Valve has dropped yet another huge update this year. This time, it’s extremely “explosive” (sorry). While many players await the culling of all cheaters in our beloved game, we’ve got something much more unexpected – the first-ever update to bomb explosion mechanics. All our skins and stickers enthusiasts also have a strong reason to rejoice, as there are two new Armory collections that incentivize the weekly grind. Most importantly, today’s update marks the start of the Premier Season 5, alongside a huge change in the Active Duty Map pool. We’ve compiled all the important changes and drops from today’s CS2 update, and here is everything you need to know about it.

The Active Duty Map Pool Changes

As expected, Cache has officially returned to the Active Duty Map Pool and will be played on all upcoming CS2 tournaments. After the official comeback in April of this year, and a couple of final touches Valve finally finds the map to be esports and Premier matchmaking ready. While this news is quite predictable, some players aren’t too happy about it. In order to make room for Cache in the Active Duty Map pool, Overpass has been removed from the rotation. The legendary urban map has been the topic of discussion for quite some time due to its extremely low pick rate both in Premier and on the pro scene. It was the second lowest-picked map after Anubis on IEM Cologne Major 2026, making it the last Major with Overpass. Time to brush up on your utility lineups for Cache!

Revamped C4 Explosion

Valve also brought some serious gameplay changes that won’t go unnoticed in competitive and pro play. Before, the post-plant strategy was to just get away as far as possible, with many instances when you realize you can’t outrun the explosion damage and just stand there contemplating how much money you’re going to get in the next round. Now, once the bomb detonates, an explosive wave flows from the bomb site through the map with dissipating force. Instead of the instant AoE proc on anyone in the close area, the explosion now travels the distance from the bombsite through the map. It’ll be interesting to see how players create the strats to outrun their demise.

Aside from the visual update that makes the explosion look way more realistic and cooler than before, you can also use solid walls and other cover to reduce the amount of damage taken. Valve also added a flash preview of your health bar after the explosion.

Community Maps Rotation

As per usual, the community designers never stop creating unique maps with fresh outlook on our beloved game. If you’re tired from the endless Premier grind on Mirage, the community map pool has been refreshed with:

  • Competitive, Casual, & Deathmatch: Boulder, Fachwerk, and Shelter.

  • Wingman: Debris and El Dorado.

New Armory Collections

Now that we don’t get to unpack new cases due to certain regulatory organs, the two Armory collections have been added. The two collections are both centered around a specific topic – the Arabesque and Spy Tech, each collection representing their respective names. The first collection’s skins are adorned by beautiful oriental patterns and pastel color scheme with a couple of gold skins on the expensive side, while the Spy Tech is focused on small technical elements and stealthy look.  Also, there’s the Fruit & Vegetables and Auto Racing sticker drop that features quite an explosive color scheme.

All the skins in both the Arabesque and Spy Tech will be available for pickup on Skin.Land. Also, you can sell your skins from the new collection for real money on our marketplace. Here’s how to do it.
