What Is the Clutch Case in CS2?

The Clutch Case arrived with the "Welcome to the Clutch" update in February 2018 and is one of CS2's glove cases — a small group of cases where the ultra-rare drop is a pair of gloves instead of a knife. Unlike newer containers, the Clutch Case is no longer part of the active weekly drop pool, so you can't earn it for free by playing; you'll need to pick one up on the market instead. The upside is that it's dirt cheap (under $1) and absolutely loaded with desirable gloves, which keeps it one of the more popular cases for glove hunters even years after release.

The case holds 17 standard weapon skins — 2 Covert, 3 Classified, 5 Restricted, and 7 Mil-Spec — plus the glove pool as the rare special item. As with every case, you'll need a Clutch Case Key (around $2.50) to open it. Worth clearing up a common mix-up right away: there are no knives in the Clutch Case — the rare special drops are all gloves.

What Gloves Are in the Clutch Case?

The Clutch Case drops 24 glove finishes across six glove types — Driver Gloves, Hand Wraps, Hydra Gloves, Moto Gloves, Specialist Gloves, and Sport Gloves. Every glove is Extraordinary rarity and prices span an enormous range: the most accessible Hydra finishes start around $130 Factory New, while the Specialist Gloves | Crimson Kimono and Sport Gloves | Superconductor both sit above $8,000 FN. The Covert Skins — M4A4 | Neo-Noir & MP7 | Bloodsport

M4A4 | Neo-Noir - buy on Skin.Land

The M4A4 | Neo-Noir is the case's standout skin — a comic-book-style femme-fatale design in purple and teal that's stayed popular since launch, running around $180 in Factory New and roughly $35 in Field-Tested. The Neo-Noir finish later spread to other weapons (the Glock-18 and USP-S versions command big prices too), but the M4A4 is the one from this case.

MP7 | Bloodsport - buy on Skin.Land

The second Covert, MP7 | Bloodsport, brings the same bold red "racing livery" look that made the AK-47 Bloodsport a community favorite — around $80 Factory New, a strong value pick for an SMG main weapon.

Clutch Case Odds & Drop Rates

The Clutch Case uses the same fixed drop rates as every other CS2 weapon case:

RarityDrop Chance
Mil-Spec (blue)79.92%
Restricted (purple)15.98%
Classified (pink)3.20%
Covert (red)0.64%
Rare Special — Gloves0.26%

In plain terms: roughly 4 of every 5 openings give you a sub-$3 Mil-Spec skin. A Covert (Neo-Noir or Bloodsport) appears about once every 156 openings, and a glove of any kind roughly once every 385 openings. For a fuller breakdown of how case probabilities work, see our CS2 case odds and chances guide

Is the Clutch Case Worth Opening?

For most players, no — not as a money-making move. Opening one case costs about $3.13 (roughly $0.63 for the case plus $2.50 for the key), and about 80% of the time you'll pull a Mil-Spec skin worth a couple of dollars. The dream is obviously a Crimson Kimono or King Snake pull, but at 0.26% glove odds you'd open hundreds of cases on average to land one — and it could just as easily be a $130 Hydra Mangrove as a $9,080 Crimson Kimono.

Like every CS2 case, the Clutch Case has a negative expected value: on average you get back less than you put in. If you want a specific skin or glove from the case, buying it directly is almost always cheaper and guaranteed. Treat case opening as paid entertainment, not investment. Where Can You Buy the Clutch Case?

If you've weighed the odds and still want to try your luck — the glove dream is a powerful thing — there's no need to overpay for the case itself. You can grab the Clutch Case on Skin.Land for around $0.63, and pair it with a Clutch Case Key for an opening. And if it's a specific glove you're chasing, remember you can also buy any Clutch glove outright on the market — no gambling required, and you'll usually spend less than chasing it through keys.

Can You Rent Clutch Case Skins?

Yes. Valve's official skin-rental feature launched with the Kilowatt Case in May 2024 and expanded to cover every CS2 and CS:GO case — including the Clutch Case — by November 28, 2024. Pick "Open for rent" instead of "Open" and you'll unlock all 17 standard weapon skins from the collection for seven days, for the price of the case plus a key. The one catch specific to this case: gloves are excluded from the official rental system, the same way knives are excluded from knife cases — so the King Snake, Amphibious, and the rest of the Clutch glove pool can't be rented, only bought outright. Rented skins disappear from your inventory automatically after the week and can't be traded or sold in the meantime. Our full guide to renting CS2 skins walks through the process.

FAQ

When was the Clutch Case released?

The Clutch Case was released in February 2018 as part of the "Welcome to the Clutch" update. It introduced 24 new glove finishes across six glove types to Counter-Strike.

What gloves are in the Clutch Case?

The Clutch Case drops 24 glove finishes across six glove types: Driver Gloves, Hand Wraps, Hydra Gloves, Moto Gloves, Specialist Gloves, and Sport Gloves. The most expensive is the Specialist Gloves | Crimson Kimono (around $9,080 Factory New); the most accessible are the Hydra Gloves, starting near $130 FN.

Are there knives in the Clutch Case?

No. The Clutch Case is a glove case — its rare special items are gloves, not knives. If you're after a knife from a case, you'll need a different container; see our knife tier list for which cases drop which knives.

What are the odds of getting gloves from the Clutch Case?

The odds of unboxing gloves from the Clutch Case are 0.26%, or roughly 1 in 385 openings — the same rare-special-item rate every CS2 weapon case uses. Which of the 24 glove finishes you get, and its wear, are then rolled separately.

How much does it cost to open a Clutch Case?

Can you rent skins from the Clutch Case?

Yes — you can rent all 17 standard weapon skins from the Clutch Case for seven days by choosing "Open for rent." Gloves are excluded from the rental system, so you can't rent the King Snake or any other Clutch glove; renting only covers the regular weapon skins.
