What the StatTrak™ counter does

The ★ StatTrak™ M9 Bayonet | Case Hardened (Minimal Wear, MW) is the StatTrak™ copy of this skin — the same Covert ★ finish, the same look, with a kill counter built into the model. This blade gets its look from color case-hardening via wood charcoal applied at high heat, leaving a patchwork of blue, gold, and steel rather than a painted design. Minimal Wear covers 0.07–0.15 on the float scale, a step below Factory New, with wear that stays hard to spot at a glance.

What StatTrak™ changes about the price of the M9 Bayonet | Case Hardened

What the counter tracks is confirmed kills, shown as a running total on the model itself. It is tied to the item, not to the owner, so the number follows the skin from inventory to inventory and only ever goes up. A StatTrak™ Swap Tool moves a count between two StatTrak™ items of the same type, which is as close to a reset as the game allows.

Where a StatTrak™ copy comes from

The StatTrak™ premium comes from scarcity: far fewer copies exist at the same finish and exterior. It is the finish and the float that set the figure, though — the kill count on a given copy barely moves it either way.

FAQ

As one of the original knife finishes, Case Hardened has appeared in a long list of cases over the years rather than just one, with the CS:GO Weapon Case and the Operation Phoenix Weapon Case among the more recognizable sources. StatTrak™ is settled at the drop: a copy either leaves the case with a counter or never has one, and it cannot be added afterwards.

Can the StatTrak counter on the M9 Bayonet | Case Hardened be reset?

No. The count only moves one way and stays with the item through every trade and sale. A StatTrak™ Swap Tool moves a count between two StatTrak™ items of the same type, which is as close to a reset as the game allows. It still cannot lower the number.

Does StatTrak change how the M9 Bayonet | Case Hardened looks?

No, apart from the counter on the model. The finish, the pattern and the float range are identical to the plain version, so at the same exterior the two look the same in hand.
