The AWP | Chromatic Aberration (Battle-Scarred) is a Covert sniper skin with a light body and an RGB color-split effect, in its most heavily worn condition. It's the cheapest way into the glitch design, trading surface condition for the lowest entry price.
Design
Chromatic Aberration channels the color split of a misaligned camera lens or a glitching screen — with the paint's color channels offset from each other, a light base ends up fringed with cyan and magenta ghosting along every edge. Built around chromatic motifs, it's a community design by the artist kosear, and it carries a wink of a caption: "(Not so) easy on the eyes..."
AWP | Chromatic Aberration (Battle-Scarred) Float and Wear
At Battle-Scarred the finish wears its damage openly — heavy scratching and broad paint loss spread across the body, and the pale base amplifies every bit of it. The offset color channels survive as the detail that keeps the skin readable. The finish is float-capped at 0.70, so it never reaches the very end of the wear scale, and the glitch stays identifiable even at its roughest.
AWP | Chromatic Aberration Rarity
Rarity: Covert — the red tier and the top grade among standard weapon skins, sitting above Classified with just knives and gloves ranked higher. It counts among the rarer grades to come straight out of a case.
AWP | Chromatic Aberration Case and Collection
Chromatic Aberration is part of The Recoil Collection and unboxes from the Recoil Case, which launched on July 1, 2022. As a Covert it shares the roughly 0.64% red-tier drop chance across the case's Covert skins — that figure applies to the whole tier, not to this finish alone — leaving it a scarce pull that changes hands on the market far more often than it comes fresh from a case.
AWP | Chromatic Aberration Patterns
Chromatic Aberration has no random pattern to speak of, with the offset color channels placed identically on every copy and no paint seed or blue gem to seek out. Wear and float are the only traits that set one unit apart from another.
StatTrak & Souvenir
A StatTrak™ variant exists as well, adding a confirmed-kill counter as a rarer, more expensive drop from the Recoil Case; the counter logs kills permanently and stays with the item through trades and sales. A Souvenir edition was never produced, because Souvenir weapons come only through Major-tournament souvenir packages, and the Recoil Case was never part of a Major drop.

FAQ
Is the Battle-Scarred version still recognizable?
Yes. Despite the heavy scuffing and paint loss, the cyan-and-magenta offset keeps the design clearly readable at a glance in-game. Battle-Scarred is about accepting obvious wear on the pale body in exchange for the lowest price, not losing the glitch effect that makes the skin what it is.
Why doesn't it look completely destroyed?
Because the finish is float-capped at 0.70 rather than the full 1.0, its Battle-Scarred copies never hit the most extreme wear the scale allows. The damage is heavy and the light base hides none of it, but the color offset stays intact, so the skin reads more legibly than the grade name suggests.
Which gloves go with Chromatic Aberration?
The cyan-magenta split and purple-pink cast suit a cool, vaporwave-style loadout, so teal, purple, or pink gloves land best — a violet pair echoes the ghosting, while cyan wraps pick up the color fringe. Neutral white or gray gloves also work if you'd rather the skin stay the loudest piece.
