AWP | Chromatic Aberration (Field-Tested)
The AWP | Chromatic Aberration (Field-Tested) is a Covert sniper skin with a light body and an RGB color-split effect. Field-Tested is the most common, most recognizable way to own it — a touch of honest wear on the pale base for a noticeably friendlier price.
Design
Chromatic Aberration copies the effect of a lens or screen that's gone out of alignment — the paint's color channels are offset from one another, leaving cyan and magenta ghosting along every edge of the light base. It's a chromatic-themed community design by the artist kosear, and it carries a wink of a caption: "(Not so) easy on the eyes..."
AWP | Chromatic Aberration (Field-Tested) Float and Wear
At Field-Tested the light base starts to show its wear openly — light scratching and thinning along the body, the rail, and the scope, more obvious here than on a dark skin because there's no shade to disguise it. The color offset itself is unaffected by float, so the signature glitch still carries the look. This is the grade most players picture when they think of the skin.
AWP | Chromatic Aberration Rarity
Rarity: Covert, the red tier at the top of the standard weapon-skin grades — above Classified, with only knives and gloves sitting higher. It's one of the rarer grades to unbox directly from a case.
AWP | Chromatic Aberration Case and Collection
The Recoil Collection is home to Chromatic Aberration, which drops from the Recoil Case released on July 1, 2022. As a Covert it shares the roughly 0.64% red-tier drop chance across the case's Covert skins — that percentage sits with the tier as a whole, not with this one finish — making it a scarce pull that most players buy on the market instead of unboxing.
AWP | Chromatic Aberration Patterns
Chromatic Aberration carries no random pattern variation; the offset color channels land identically on every copy, leaving no paint seed or blue gem to hunt. Only wear and float distinguish one unit from another.
StatTrak & Souvenir
There's a StatTrak™ version too, adding a confirmed-kill counter; it's a rarer, pricier pull from the Recoil Case, and the counter records kills permanently as the item is traded or sold. No Souvenir edition was ever made, since Souvenir weapons come only through Major-tournament souvenir packages, and the Recoil Case was never part of a Major drop.
AWP | Chromatic Aberration Price
Field-Tested is the value sweet spot of the range — cheaper than the two higher grades while keeping the whole point of the skin, the color-split effect, fully intact. It's a big part of why this finish reads as an approachable mid-tier AWP rather than a wallet-buster. It's available to buy on Skin.Land with instant delivery and no hidden fees.
FAQ
How worn does the Field-Tested version look?
Visibly, but not wrecked. Expect light scratching and some fading across the body and scope, and because the base is pale it shows more plainly than the same wear would on a dark skin. The glitch effect stays vivid regardless, so the skin still reads clearly as Chromatic Aberration in-game.
Is Field-Tested the best value pick?
For most buyers, yes. It's the most common grade and the cheapest that still keeps the color offset looking full, so you're paying for the effect rather than for a mint finish. Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred go lower still if you want the design at the smallest possible outlay.
Which gloves go with Chromatic Aberration?
The cyan-magenta split and purple-pink cast suit a cool, vaporwave-style loadout, so teal, purple, or pink gloves land best — a violet pair echoes the ghosting, while cyan wraps pick up the color fringe. Neutral white or gray gloves also work if you'd rather the skin stay the loudest piece.
