AWP | Mortis (Field-Tested)

AWP | Mortis (Field-Tested)

The AWP | Mortis (Field-Tested) is a Classified sniper rifle skin with a dark, death-inspired skull motif in muted brown, drawn from the Death tarot card. Field-Tested is the most common way to own it — a touch of honest wear on a base that hides it well, for less than the higher grades.

Design

At its heart the finish is a shadowy skull-and-death design washed in muted brown — atmospheric, understated, and heavy on mood over graphics. It began as a community submission from artists OniLolz, Zaphk, and 2Minds, who worked from the Death tarot card, and it carries a fitting in-game line: "Every end is a new beginning."

AWP | Mortis (Field-Tested) Float and Wear

At Field-Tested the finish picks up light scratching along the edges and high spots, but the deep, muted base absorbs most of it, so a copy still reads well at a glance. This is the grade most owners land on — a solid balance of look and cost, with the death artwork staying front and center regardless of the small marks.

AWP | Mortis Rarity

Rarity: Classified — the pink tier, ranked directly below Covert and second from the top of the standard weapon grades. Pulling one from a case is genuinely uncommon.

AWP | Mortis Case and Collection

Belonging to The Clutch Collection, the Mortis is unboxed from the Clutch Case that arrived in February 2018. As a group the Classified tier pulls at roughly 3.2% of the time (a rate the tier's skins share), and because the Clutch Case remains in circulation, supply is comfortable — even so, the market is where most copies are bought rather than opened from a case.

AWP | Mortis Patterns

Because the skull motif and brown wash sit the same way on every copy, this finish has no random pattern variation — nothing like a paint seed or "blue gem" to track down. Copies differ from one another only by their wear and float, never by the layout of the art.

StatTrak & Souvenir

You can also find a StatTrak™ Mortis, which tacks on a confirmed-kill counter that logs your frags; it's rarer and more expensive than the standard drop, and the counter is permanent, following the item through every trade or sale. There's no Souvenir variant — Souvenir weapons only come from Major-tournament souvenir packages, and the Clutch Case was never a Major drop.

AWP | Mortis Price

Field-Tested is the value heart of the range — cheaper than the two top grades while keeping nearly the same look, which is a big reason it's the most-owned version. Since the finish already ranks as a budget AWP, this grade is about as accessible as the skin gets. It's available to buy on Skin.Land with instant delivery and no hidden fees.

FAQ

Does the Field-Tested Mortis look worn?

Not much. The dark, muted base masks scratches unusually well, so a Field-Tested copy reads as tidy to most eyes, with only light edge wear on close inspection. The skull artwork and brown tones aren't affected by float, so the skin's death theme always stands out clearly.

Is Field-Tested the best value Mortis?

For most buyers, yes. It costs less than Minimal Wear and Factory New but looks almost the same thanks to the wear-hiding base, and it's the easiest grade to find on the market. Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred go lower still if you want the cheapest entry and don't mind heavier scuffing.

Where does the Mortis come from?

It's part of The Clutch Collection and drops from the Clutch Case, which Valve released in February 2018. The design is a community creation by OniLolz, Zaphk, and 2Minds, based on the Death tarot card, which explains its somber, skull-driven death theme rather than a typical action motif.
