AWP | Pit Viper (Well-Worn)

AWP | Pit Viper (Well-Worn)

The AWP | Pit Viper (Well-Worn) is a Restricted sniper skin showing its green-and-black snakeskin pattern in a more weathered state. It's a cheaper route into the viper design, with wear the busy scales still partly disguise.

Design

At its core the finish is a snakeskin hydrographic — green and black scales wrapped over the AWP to echo a pit viper's hide. Valve built it in-house rather than sourcing it from the community, and it comes stamped with flavor text from an in-game story: "I know you don't believe in the cause... and when I expose you, Valeria will have your head."

AWP | Pit Viper (Well-Worn) Float and Wear

At Well-Worn the finish shows clear scuffing and paint thinning across the scope, receiver and edges, where the scales rub down. The green-and-black snakeskin still carries the look, but there's no hiding that this is a worn grade. For players who care more about price than surface condition, it delivers the viper pattern for less.

AWP | Pit Viper Rarity

Rarity: Restricted — the purple grade, ranked fourth up the standard weapon tiers, above Mil-Spec and beneath Classified. Pulling one is meaningfully less common than landing the lower-tier skins in the same collection.

AWP | Pit Viper Case and Collection

Part of The Italy Collection, the Pit Viper arrived with the "Out with the old, in with the new" update back in November 2013. The Restricted tier as a group surfaces about 16% of the time in a drop (that figure is shared across the tier), and because the collection reached players through tournament souvenir packages instead of a buyable case, the market is where most copies come from today.

AWP | Pit Viper Patterns

The Pit Viper carries no random pattern variation: the snakeskin sits the same way on every copy, which means there's no paint seed or blue-gem to track down. Copies differ only by wear and float.

StatTrak & Souvenir

A StatTrak Pit Viper doesn't exist — StatTrak weapons stem from weapon cases that carry a StatTrak variant, and this skin was never in such a case. A Souvenir version was made, however: Souvenir weapons come only from Major-tournament souvenir packages, and with Italy in the tournament map rotation, packages like the DreamHack 2013 Souvenir Package could hand out a Souvenir Pit Viper, occasionally bearing gold tournament stickers that make it far more collectible.

AWP | Pit Viper Price

Well-Worn sits near the bottom of the Pit Viper ladder, below Field-Tested and above only Battle-Scarred — a budget way into the design for players who won't pay the mid-grade premium. It's one of the cheaper routes to a genuine viper AWP, and quick to grab on Skin.Land.

FAQ

How worn does the Well-Worn Pit Viper look?

Noticeably. Expect visible scuffing and paint thinning on the scope and around the edges — more than Field-Tested but short of the heaviest battering of Battle-Scarred. The green scales and dark base keep it recognizable, so it still reads plainly as a Pit Viper during a match.

Is Well-Worn worth buying over Field-Tested?

Only if price is your priority. Field-Tested looks a good deal fresher for a modest step up in cost, so most buyers prefer it. Well-Worn makes sense when you want the viper design as cheaply as possible without dropping all the way down to Battle-Scarred.

Can I get the Pit Viper from a trade-up?

Yes. Because it's a Restricted skin, a trade-up contract fed with ten Mil-Spec finishes from The Italy Collection can output a Pit Viper. It's not guaranteed — the result depends on the collection's Restricted pool — but it's a legitimate route to one beyond buying it outright on the market.
