M4A1-S | Nitro (Field-Tested)

M4A1-S | Nitro (Field-Tested)

The M4A1-S | Nitro (Field-Tested) is a Restricted-grade rifle skin with black and tangerine orange parts done in a motorsport style. Field-Tested is the most common and best-value way to run it — a little honest wear on a finish that still pops.

Design

The look is Valve's take on a racing theme: individual parts spray-painted black and tangerine orange for a bold, energetic finish that leans on warm color rather than busy graphics. It also comes with an in-game line credited to Commanding Officer Felix Riley — "Rona is as good as she thinks she is... she's just not old enough to realize she shouldn't point it out to everyone."

M4A1-S | Nitro (Field-Tested) Float and Wear

Field-Tested sits in the middle of the skin's 0.06–0.80 float range, so you'll get light scratching along the edges and on the magazine. The good news is the orange keeps plenty of punch and the black base still reads deep, so most copies look sharp at playing distance. This is the grade most buyers picture when they think of the Nitro — the sweet spot of looks against price.

M4A1-S | Nitro Rarity

Rarity: Restricted — the purple grade. It ranks a step over Mil-Spec and a step under Classified, landing comfortably in the mid-high band of weapon tiers.

M4A1-S | Nitro Case and Collection

Belonging to The Safehouse Collection, the Nitro launched with the "Out with the old, in with the new" update on November 27, 2013. It was distributed through Souvenir packages — the DreamHack 2013 and EMS One 2014 packages — instead of a regular weapon case, and the Restricted tier as a group drops at roughly 15.98% (that rate is shared across the tier). Since those packages have retired, the market is now the only source.

M4A1-S | Nitro Patterns

Because the black-and-orange spray job is placed the same way on every copy, the Nitro has no random pattern variation — nothing like a paint seed or blue-gem to track down. Copies differ only by their wear and float values.

StatTrak & Souvenir

You won't find a StatTrak Nitro, and the reason is mechanical: StatTrak weapons only ever come from weapon cases, while this finish shipped through a collection and its Souvenir packages. A Souvenir version, on the other hand, does exist — those are made solely from Major-tournament souvenir packages such as the DreamHack 2013 Souvenir Package.

M4A1-S | Nitro Price

Field-Tested is the value sweet spot of the Nitro range, cheaper than the higher grades while keeping most of the visual pop — a big part of why it's the go-to condition. Across the M4A1-S lineup the skin is an affordable mid-tier pick, so this grade is very wallet-friendly. It's available to buy on Skin.Land with instant delivery and no hidden fees.

FAQ

Does the Field-Tested Nitro look worn?

Only mildly. You'll spot light scratches along the edges and on the magazine up close, but the bold black-and-orange paint carries the look so well that it reads sharp at combat range. The tangerine accents don't fade with float, so the skin's signature racing character always stands out.

Is Field-Tested the best value Nitro?

For most buyers, yes. It costs noticeably less than Minimal Wear and Factory New while keeping the finish's punch, and it's the most plentiful grade on the market. Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred go cheaper still if you want the lowest entry price and don't mind heavier scuffing.

Which gloves go with the Nitro?

Its warm black-and-orange palette suits a motorsport-style loadout, so orange, tan, or brown gloves echo the tangerine tone while black wraps play off the darker parts. A warm-colored pair rounds out the racing theme without clashing with the finish.
