M4A1-S | VariCamo (Field-Tested)
The M4A1-S | VariCamo (Field-Tested) is a Mil-Spec grade rifle skin with a gray, camouflage-patterned coat over the silenced M4A1-S. Field-Tested is the most common and most affordable way to run the finish, with a touch of honest wear that the busy camo motif mostly swallows.
Design
The look is tactical and deliberately plain: a gray finish made of overlapping camouflage shapes, courtesy of Valve. It has been painted using a VariCamo patterned hydrographic that spreads the motif uniformly over the weapon, and it comes with a fitting in-game line: "Rebuilding only comes in the wake of destruction."
M4A1-S | VariCamo (Field-Tested) Float and Wear
The finish rolls a float of 0.00–0.60, and Field-Tested occupies the broad middle of that band. Expect light scratching along the edges and high-contact spots, but the mottled gray camo pattern hides it so well that most copies still look tidy from playing distance. This is the grade most people picture when they think of VariCamo — the practical middle ground.
M4A1-S | VariCamo Rarity
Rarity: Mil-Spec Grade. That's the blue tier — the starting rank of the standard colored weapon grades and the most common of them, which keeps the finish squarely in accessible territory.
M4A1-S | VariCamo Case and Collection
Belonging to The Dust 2 Collection, VariCamo launched with the "Out with the old, in with the new" update back in November 2013. Across a Dust II souvenir package the Mil-Spec tier drops around 79.92% of the time (a rate the whole tier shares), so it's by far the most probable grade to surface from one.
M4A1-S | VariCamo Patterns
No random pattern applies to VariCamo: the camouflage motif is placed identically on each copy, leaving nothing like a paint seed or "blue gem" to track down. Wear and float are the sole differences between one copy and the next.
StatTrak & Souvenir
A StatTrak edition was never made — StatTrak weapons only come from weapon cases that carry a StatTrak-enabled roll, and this finish didn't release through one. What does exist is a Souvenir edition: those are produced solely from Major-tournament souvenir packages, and VariCamo's first was the DreamHack 2013 Souvenir Package, with many Dust II packages following.
M4A1-S | VariCamo Price
Field-Tested is the value heart of the range — cheaper than the higher grades while keeping nearly the same appearance thanks to the wear-hiding camo. Combined with its affordable mid-tier standing among M4A1-S skins, it's the easiest way into the finish for the money. It's available to buy on Skin.Land with instant delivery and no hidden fees.
FAQ
Does the Field-Tested VariCamo look worn?
Not much. The camouflage pattern is busy and mid-gray, so it masks edge scratches unusually well, and a Field-Tested copy reads as tidy to most eyes from normal viewing distance. Only close inspection reveals the light wear on the frame's high spots.
Is Field-Tested the best value VariCamo?
For most buyers, yes. It costs less than Minimal Wear and Factory New but looks close because the camo hides scuffing, and it's the most plentiful grade on the market. Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred sit lower still if you want the absolute cheapest entry point.
Which gloves go with VariCamo?
Its neutral gray, camo base is easy to match, but muted military tones work best — think gray, olive, or tan wraps that reinforce the tactical theme. Bright or flashy gloves clash with the understated finish, so keep the palette earthy and low-key.
