M4A4 | Desolate Space (Factory New)
The M4A4 | Desolate Space (Factory New) is a Classified rifle skin that wraps the receiver in a cosmic scene — an astronaut drifting among planets and skulls in cool blue and cyan tones. With the finish spanning the full float range, Factory New is the top grade, where the artwork reads at its sharpest.
Design
Desolate Space builds a whole sci-fi vignette onto the rifle: a lone astronaut adrift in deep space, surrounded by distant planets and floating skulls, all bathed in blue and cyan light. It's a community design by the artist Andy, and it ships with a suitably ominous in-game line: "We've lost contact."
M4A4 | Desolate Space (Factory New) Float and Wear
This finish runs a float range of 0.00–1.00. Because the finish rolls across the entire float scale, Factory New is the highest grade you can get. At this exterior the cosmic scene stays fully intact — the astronaut, the planets, and the skulls all render with maximum detail, and the blue-cyan palette keeps its full saturation with no scuffing on the body or edges. If you want the artwork exactly as the designer intended, this is the grade to chase.
M4A4 | Desolate Space Rarity
Rarity: Classified — the pink tier, second from the top of the standard weapon grades and sitting just below Covert. It's a genuinely uncommon grade to pull straight from a case.
M4A4 | Desolate Space Case and Collection
Desolate Space belongs to The Gamma Collection and is unboxed from the Gamma Case, which arrived with the Gamma Exposure update in June 2016. The Classified tier as a whole drops roughly 3.2% of the time from the case (a rate shared across the tier's skins), and with the Gamma Case long out of the active drop rotation, supply is fixed — most copies now change hands on the market rather than from freshly opened cases.
M4A4 | Desolate Space Patterns
This finish has no random pattern variation — the astronaut, planets, and skulls are placed identically on every copy, so there's no paint seed or "blue gem" to hunt for. Wear and float are the only things that set one example apart from another.
StatTrak & Souvenir
A StatTrak™ M4A4 | Desolate Space exists and adds a confirmed-kill counter that climbs as you frag; it's a rarer, pricier drop than the standard skin, and the counter is permanent, carrying over when the item is traded or sold. There's no Souvenir version — Souvenir weapons come only from Major-tournament souvenir packages, and the Gamma Case has never been a Major drop.
M4A4 | Desolate Space Price
Factory New sits at the top of this skin's own price ladder, a clear step above Minimal Wear as the cleanest grade available. Even so, the finish lands as an affordable mid-tier M4A4 pick overall, so the best condition here won't demand grail money. It's available to buy on Skin.Land with instant delivery and no hidden fees.
FAQ
Is Factory New worth the premium over Minimal Wear?
If you care about the artwork, yes. Factory New shows the astronaut, planets, and skulls with the most detail and the deepest blue-cyan color, with zero surface wear. That said, a Minimal Wear copy looks very close for less, so pay up only if you specifically want the top grade on the shelf.
What does the Desolate Space finish actually show?
It's a full cosmic scene painted across the M4A4 — a lone astronaut adrift in space, ringed by planets and floating skulls, all rendered in blue and cyan hues. The eerie theme is underlined by the in-game description, "We've lost contact," which leans into the "lost in space" mood.
Which gloves go with Desolate Space?
Its blue-and-cyan space palette suits a cool-toned loadout, so blue or teal gloves are the natural match — a pair with icy or aqua accents echoes the cosmic lighting. Darker gloves with subtle blue detailing also work if you want the artwork itself to stay the centerpiece.
