M4A4 | Etch Lord (Battle-Scarred)

M4A4 | Etch Lord (Battle-Scarred)

The M4A4 | Etch Lord (Battle-Scarred) is a Restricted rifle skin with a black-and-gray engraved-look finish in its most heavily worn condition. It's the cheapest way into the etched-metal design, trading surface polish for the lowest entry price.

Design

The idea behind Etch Lord is pure illusion — its black-and-gray coat is custom painted to look engraved into the metal, favoring detailed linework over bold color. Designed by the community artist HEWOK, it carries a self-aware in-game line: "It's just a phase."

M4A4 | Etch Lord (Battle-Scarred) Float and Wear

The finish covers the full float range, so it reaches the heaviest grades, and Battle-Scarred is the most worn of them. Damage shows openly here — deep scratching and paint loss across the body, with the engraved lines rubbed thin in places — yet the dark, detailed base keeps the design identifiable. It's the roughest the artwork gets, and the most forgiving on a tight budget.

M4A4 | Etch Lord Rarity

Rarity: Restricted — the purple tier. It falls above Mil-Spec and below Classified among the standard weapon grades, a mid-ladder grade that's moderately uncommon to unbox.

M4A4 | Etch Lord Case and Collection

Belonging to The Kilowatt Collection, the Etch Lord drops from the Kilowatt Case that released in February 2024. The Restricted tier as a whole unboxes about sixteen percent of the time (an odds share split across the tier's skins), which means supply is plentiful — the market, rather than fresh unboxing, is where most copies change hands.

M4A4 | Etch Lord Patterns

The engraved artwork appears identically on every copy, so the Etch Lord has no random pattern variation — there's no paint seed or "blue gem" to look for. What separates one copy from the next comes down to wear and float alone.

StatTrak & Souvenir

There's a StatTrak™ M4A4 | Etch Lord too, adding a confirmed-kill counter; it's a rarer and more expensive drop from the Kilowatt Case, and the counter is permanent, following the item through trades and sales. No Souvenir variant exists — Souvenir weapons are handed out only through Major-tournament packages, and the Kilowatt Case has never been a Major drop.

M4A4 | Etch Lord Price

Battle-Scarred is the cheapest grade of the skin — the entry-level way to run the engraved look for players who put the design ahead of condition. Since the Etch Lord is a budget M4A4 finish anyway, this is about as low as the price of admission goes. It's available to buy on Skin.Land with instant delivery and no hidden fees.

FAQ

Is the Battle-Scarred Etch Lord still recognizable?

Yes. Despite heavy scuffing and paint loss, the dark base and dense engraved linework keep the design clearly readable at a glance in-game. Battle-Scarred is about accepting visible wear in return for the lowest price, not losing the look — the etched-metal illusion still comes through, just on a rougher surface than the higher grades.

How much wear does Battle-Scarred show?

A lot. This grade carries the deepest scratching and the most paint loss of any condition, with the fine engraved lines worn thin across raised areas. The finish's dark, busy detail softens the impact more than a light-colored skin would, but there's no mistaking it for a fresh copy — this is the skin at its most battered.

Is the Etch Lord a good budget M4A4 skin?

It's one of the more approachable M4A4 finishes, and Battle-Scarred is its lowest-priced grade, so the pairing is about as cheap as a distinctive M4A4 gets. You get an unusual engraved-metal look that stays understated in a loadout, without the outlay that flashier or grail-tier M4A4 skins demand.
