M4A4 | Etch Lord (Field-Tested)

M4A4 | Etch Lord (Field-Tested)

The M4A4 | Etch Lord (Field-Tested) is a Restricted rifle skin with a black-and-gray, engraved-look finish. Field-Tested is the most common and best-value way to own it, wearing light honest use on a design that shrugs it off.

Design

At heart Etch Lord is a visual sleight of hand — the black-and-gray finish is custom painted to appear engraved into the metal, built around intricate linework rather than vivid color. It began as a community submission from the artist HEWOK, and it comes with a cheeky in-game line: "It's just a phase."

M4A4 | Etch Lord (Field-Tested) Float and Wear

Spanning the entire float range, this finish shows up in every grade, and Field-Tested lands right in the middle. Light scratching gathers on the edges and raised parts, but the dark, busy engraving absorbs it so the artwork still reads well at a glance. This is the grade most players settle on — the meeting point of looks and price.

M4A4 | Etch Lord Rarity

Rarity: Restricted — the purple tier of the standard weapon grades, one rung over Mil-Spec and one under Classified. It's a mid-tier grade and a moderately uncommon case pull.

M4A4 | Etch Lord Case and Collection

This finish is part of The Kilowatt Collection and comes out of the Kilowatt Case, which arrived in February 2024. The Restricted grade as a group unboxes about sixteen percent of the time (a rate the tier's skins share), so it isn't scarce — a good chunk of copies reach the market through unboxing and trading alike.

M4A4 | Etch Lord Patterns

No random pattern variation applies to the Etch Lord: the engraved artwork is fixed identically on each copy, meaning no paint seed or "blue gem" is worth tracking down. The only separators between copies are wear and float.

StatTrak & Souvenir

You can also find a StatTrak™ M4A4 | Etch Lord, which tacks on a confirmed-kill counter; it's a rarer and costlier drop from the Kilowatt Case, and the counter is permanent, following the item through every trade or sale. There's no Souvenir edition — Souvenir weapons come solely from Major-tournament packages, and the Kilowatt Case was never part of a Major.

M4A4 | Etch Lord Price

Field-Tested is the value pocket of the range — cheaper than the higher grades while keeping nearly the same engraved look, which is why it's the go-to Etch Lord. As a budget finish in the M4A4 roster to begin with, it's about as accessible as this artwork gets. It's available to buy on Skin.Land with instant delivery and no hidden fees.

FAQ

Does the Field-Tested Etch Lord look worn?

Only mildly. Field-Tested adds light scratching to the edges and raised metal, but the finish is dark and packed with engraved detail, so scuffs blend into the artwork rather than standing out. From playing distance most copies read as intact, and the etched illusion holds up — you'd need a close inspect to spot the wear.

Is Field-Tested the best value Etch Lord?

For most buyers, yes. It's the cheapest grade that still looks almost identical to the higher conditions, thanks to a base that hides wear, and it's the most common on the market. Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred cost less if you want the lowest entry price and don't mind heavier, more visible scuffing.

Is the StatTrak Etch Lord worth it?

That's a personal call. StatTrak carries a premium over the standard version and only appeals if you enjoy tracking confirmed kills on your main rifle. Since the regular Etch Lord is already a budget finish, the StatTrak version stays fairly affordable too — a low-cost way to run a kill counter without buying an expensive skin to do it.
