SSG 08 | Dark Water (Field-Tested)
The SSG 08 | Dark Water (Field-Tested) is a Mil-Spec bolt-action skin with a charcoal aquatic-stripe pattern over a chrome base coat, shown here at its most worn. Since Factory New and Minimal Wear are the finish's only cleaner grades, Field-Tested marks the bottom of its wear range.
Design
The finish combines a chrome base coat with charcoal metallic stripes in an aquatic pattern, giving the rifle a dark, reflective, water-inspired look. Valve made this one, and it carries the line "Water gives life, but it can also take it..."
SSG 08 | Dark Water (Field-Tested) Float and Wear
Dark Water's float is capped between 0.1 and 0.26, so Field-Tested here stays notably milder than the worst wear seen on skins with an uncapped range up to 1.0. Expect some scuffing across the chrome base at this grade, but nowhere near heavy damage — this finish never drops in Well-Worn or Battle-Scarred at all.
SSG 08 | Dark Water Rarity
This is a Mil-Spec Grade skin — the blue tier, a common rarity rather than a scarce one within CS2's grading system.
SSG 08 | Dark Water Case and Collection
Dark Water comes from The eSports 2014 Summer Collection, dropping out of the eSports 2014 Summer Case released in July 2014. As a Mil-Spec finish it shares in the tier's roughly 79.92% drop rate from that case.
SSG 08 | Dark Water Patterns
Every copy carries the same aquatic-stripe arrangement, so there's no random seed to chase and nothing like a "blue gem" version for this finish. Wear grade and float are what separate one copy from another.
StatTrak & Souvenir
A StatTrak™ version of Dark Water exists alongside the regular finish, adding a permanent confirmed-kill counter that carries through trades and sales. No Souvenir edition was ever made, since Souvenir weapons come only from Major-tournament packages and this finish has never appeared in one.
SSG 08 | Dark Water Price
Field-Tested is the lowest-priced grade available for Dark Water, since the finish's float range never reaches Well-Worn or Battle-Scarred. It's still an affordable mid-tier pick overall. It's available to buy on Skin.Land with instant delivery and no hidden fees.
FAQ
Why does Dark Water stop at Field-Tested instead of going lower?
Its float range is capped at 0.26, which falls short of the thresholds needed for Well-Worn or Battle-Scarred. Field-Tested is therefore both the roughest and the cheapest grade this finish ever offers.
Does Field-Tested Dark Water look heavily worn?
Not as much as Field-Tested copies of uncapped skins. Because the float tops out at 0.26 rather than 1.0, even this bottom grade shows only moderate scuffing rather than the heavier damage seen elsewhere in the game.
Is the StatTrak Field-Tested Dark Water worth buying?
If tracking kills matters to you, yes — the StatTrak counter is permanent and adds resale appeal since StatTrak copies are rarer. If you just want the cheapest way into the design, the standard Field-Tested finish costs less.
