XM1014 | Bone Machine (Field-Tested)
The XM1014 | Bone Machine (Field-Tested) is a Mil-Spec Grade shotgun with a chromed body under a semi-transparent skull-and-bone hydrographic. Field-Tested is the most common way to own it, adding honest wear to a busy graphic that carries it well.
Design
Bone Machine is defined by its layering: a semi-transparent hydrographic of nuclear skulls and bones sits over a chrome base, and the metal shines through the graphic for a mechanical, almost X-ray look. It's a Valve-made design, distinctive among shotgun finishes.
XM1014 | Bone Machine (Field-Tested) Float and Wear
Field-Tested falls in the middle of the capped 0.00–0.60 float range. Here light scratching shows on edges and high-contact areas, and because the base is reflective, some of it catches the eye more than it would on a dark finish. Still, the busy skull overlay keeps the shotgun reading as intended from playing distance.
XM1014 | Bone Machine Rarity
The grade is Mil-Spec — the blue tier at the base of the colored weapon ranks. It's a frequently seen band, and that abundance is part of why this bold shotgun stays reasonably priced.
XM1014 | Bone Machine Case and Collection
Bone Machine is a member of The Cache Collection, released on July 10, 2014. The collection isn't tied to a case, so instead of unboxing, players obtain copies as collection drops or straight from the open market.
XM1014 | Bone Machine Patterns
Nothing varies between copies pattern-wise. The skull-and-bone hydrographic is fixed, printed the same on each unit, meaning the seed number is irrelevant and there's no rare "blue gem" version to seek. Only the float and its wear separate one copy from another.
StatTrak & Souvenir
Two versions circulate — a regular finish and a Souvenir one — but a StatTrak edition was never made, because no case ever produced a counter for it. The Souvenir version first shipped in the ESL One Cologne 2014 Cache Souvenir Package and later appeared in numerous Major souvenir packages, the only source of Souvenir weapons.
XM1014 | Bone Machine Price
Field-Tested is the mid-ladder pick — cheaper than the two cleanest grades while keeping most of the mechanical look. It's the value entry point into a finish that runs premium for an XM1014. It's available to buy on Skin.Land with instant delivery and no hidden fees.
FAQ
Does the Field-Tested Bone Machine look worn?
Moderately. Field-Tested adds visible scratching on edges and contact points, and the reflective chrome catches some of it more than a matte base would. That said, the dense skull-and-bone overlay disguises a lot of the wear, so the shotgun still reads as the mechanical, aggressive finish it's meant to be in-game.
Is Field-Tested the best value Bone Machine?
For many buyers, yes. It costs less than Factory New and Minimal Wear while keeping the core chrome-and-skull look, and it's the most common grade around. Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred are cheaper still if you want the lowest price and don't mind the reflective base showing heavier wear.
Why is Bone Machine popular despite being Mil-Spec?
Because looks drive demand more than rarity here. It's only a blue-tier finish, but the chromed body and nuclear skull overlay make it one of the most recognizable XM1014 designs, and it comes from an older, no-case collection. That combination keeps interest — and its premium XM1014 price — well above its grade.
