How to Copy a Crosshair in CS2
There are two primary ways to copy a crosshair in Counter-Strike 2, depending on whether you are grabbing it from a player in your current match or pasting a text code you found online.
If you are spectating someone and want to steal their setup on the fly, you can do it directly from the scoreboard without minimizing your game.
Hold down your scoreboard key (default is Tab) while spectating the player.
Right-click your mouse to enable the cursor.
Left-click on the player's name to open their user profile menu.
Click the Copy Crosshair icon to apply their crosshair to your game instantly.
If you found a string of text code from a pro player, streamer, or website, you will need to manually paste it into your game settings.
Open your Settings menu.
Navigate to the Game tab at the top of the screen.
Scroll down or click the Crosshair sub-section.
Click the Share or Import button located right next to the crosshair preview window.
Paste your crosshair code into the pop-up text box.
Click Import to save and equip your new sight.
How to Copy Someone Else’s Crosshair in CS2
If you spot a teammate hitting insane headshots and want to try their exact setup, Counter-Strike 2 lets you clone their crosshair directly from the scoreboard without ever leaving the match. The easiest time to do this is after death when you are actively spectating the player. While watching their POV, hold down the scoreboard key (default Tab), right-click your mouse to bring up the cursor, and click on their name. From the drop-down user menu, simply click the Copy Crosshair button. The game will ask you to confirm, and once you click "Yes," their crosshair will instantly equip to your screen, ready for you to use in the very next round.
While this in-game feature is incredibly convenient, there are a few restrictions you need to keep in mind:
Teammates Only in Matchmaking: In Competitive and Premier modes, your camera is locked to your team after death. Because you cannot spectate the enemy team, you cannot copy an opponent's crosshair live during a ranked match.
Replaces Your Current Setup: Clicking "Copy Crosshair" immediately overrides your active crosshair settings. If you haven't manually saved or exported your previous crosshair code, it will be permanently lost.
Demo Requirements for Opponents: If you get dominated by an enemy and absolutely must have their crosshair, your only option is to download the GOTV match demo afterward, spectate them in the replay, and copy it from the scoreboard there.
Resolution Differences: Keep in mind that a copied crosshair might look slightly thicker or wider on your screen if you and the spectated player use drastically different aspect ratios or resolutions (e.g., they play stretched 4:3 and you play native 16:9).
Console Commands to Copy Crosshair in CS2
If you prefer doing things the old-school way or want to bypass the settings menu entirely, you can use the developer console to instantly import a new crosshair. First, ensure you have the developer console enabled in your game settings and open it by pressing the tilde (~) key.
From there, type the command apply_crosshair_code followed by a space and the specific share code you want to use:
apply_crosshair_code CSGO-aBcDe-fGhIj-kLmNo-pQrSt-uVwXy
Hit Enter, and your crosshair will update immediately. This method is especially favored by veteran players who keep a notepad of different crosshair codes to quickly swap setups, or those who want to embed a specific crosshair directly into their autoexec.cfg file so it loads perfectly every time they launch the game.
How to Copy Your Current Crosshair
Before experimenting with new styles or importing pro setups, you should always back up your current crosshair code in case you want to revert your changes. Here is how to quickly generate and save your share code:
Open your in-game Settings menu.
Navigate to the Game tab at the top of your screen.
Scroll down to the Crosshair sub-section.
Click the Share or Import button located near the crosshair preview window.
Click the Copy your code button to instantly copy your unique alphanumeric string (which always begins with CSGO-) to your clipboard.
Paste this code into a text document, drop it in a Discord message, or save it anywhere else so you have a safe backup of your current setup.
Crosshair Share Codes in CS2
Crosshair share codes are unique, alphanumeric text strings, always beginning with the prefix CSGO, that act as a compressed blueprint for your specific crosshair settings. Instead of manually adjusting individual console commands or menu sliders for thickness, gap, length, color, and outlines, a single share code encapsulates all of these precise data points into one easily distributable format. The export and import system functions as a direct translator for your game configuration. When you export a crosshair, CS2 takes your active visual parameters and compresses them into this specific string. When you import a code, the game parses that string and instantly overwrites the existing crosshair values in your settings, perfectly replicating the exact size, shape, and color of the original without requiring any manual tweaking on your end.
