A Terminal flips that model. Unsealing one doesn't need a key, and instead of an instant random result, it shows you a single purchasable offer from the collection — a specific skin, wear, and price — one at a time; you still have to pay that displayed price to actually get the item. You can buy it, or decline the offer and reveal another until the Terminal reaches its limit and disappears for good. There's no blind gamble on float, and each offer comes with its own displayed purchase price rather than one fixed by rarity odds alone.

The Fever Case, released March 31, 2025, is still the last time Valve shipped a genuine case in the old key-and-blind-drop format. The Newest CS2 Terminal: Sealed Dead Hand Terminal

Dropping March 11, 2026, the Sealed Dead Hand Terminal is only the second Terminal ever added to CS2, following Genesis by about six months. The Actual Newest Skins Aren't in a Case or Terminal at All

Here's the twist: the freshest skins in the game right now didn't come from a case or a Terminal. The Arabesque and Spy Tech Collections launched July 8, 2026 through the in-game Armory — no container to unseal, no key to buy. You redeem Armory Credits earned through Armory Pass progress for a pull from the collection, or buy items straight off the market once other players list them. Trade-up contracts can also get you a higher-rarity item by consuming ten skins of the same rarity. They don't have to come from the Arabesque or Spy Tech Collections alone, though mixing collections changes the outcome probabilities and reduces your chances of receiving an item from the collection you're targeting. Either way, it's a way to move up from items you already have, not a starting point. Both are community-designed sets that won Valve's "Call to Arms" workshop event, and Arabesque's grail, AK-47 | Gold Arabesque, already runs around $2,340 Factory New. Recent releases suggest Valve is experimenting with more acquisition formats beyond traditional cases.
