AUG | Hot Rod (Factory New)
The AUG | Hot Rod (Factory New) is a Mil-Spec rifle skin finished in candy-red anodized paint over a chrome base. With its float capped at just 0.08, Factory New captures this finish at essentially its best possible condition.
Design
Hot Rod pairs a mirror-bright chrome base coat with a transparent red anodized layer, giving the AUG a glossy, automotive-shop finish that lives up to its name. It's a Valve-made design, and it comes with a fitting racing-flavored line: "Automatic. Systematic. Hydromatic."
AUG | Hot Rod (Factory New) Float and Wear
The Hot Rod's float only runs from 0.00 to 0.08, one of the tightest ranges on any AUG finish, so even its lowest grade stays close to mint. Factory New sits at the very top of that narrow band, with the chrome and red candy coat looking essentially flawless.
AUG | Hot Rod Rarity
Rarity: Mil-Spec Grade, the blue tier and the most common grade a weapon skin can carry. That common rarity is part of why the Hot Rod's high price is worth calling out.
AUG | Hot Rod Case and Collection
The Hot Rod belongs to The Assault Collection, released with the Arms Deal update back in August 2013 — one of the earliest weapon finishes CS2 ever had. It isn't tied to a dedicated case, so copies are obtained through collection trade-ups or bought outright on the market; Mil-Spec-grade finishes typically show up around 79.92% of the time in cases that include the tier.
AUG | Hot Rod Patterns
The Hot Rod's design is fixed — the chrome-and-red finish looks identical on every copy no matter the paint seed, so there's no rare pattern or blue-gem version to chase. Only float separates one copy from another.
StatTrak & Souvenir
No StatTrak version of the Hot Rod exists, and there's no Souvenir edition either — Souvenir weapons come only from Major-tournament packages, and The Assault Collection has never been used for one. This finish exists only in its standard form.
AUG | Hot Rod Price
Despite being a Mil-Spec skin, the Hot Rod carries a genuinely high-end, grail-tier price — its age and community demand outweigh its common rarity grade. Factory New sits at the very top of that price ladder. It's available to buy on Skin.Land with instant delivery and no hidden fees.
FAQ
Why is the AUG | Hot Rod so expensive for a Mil-Spec skin?
Its price sits at a high-end, grail-tier level despite the common Mil-Spec rarity grade, largely thanks to its age — it dates back to the Arms Deal update in August 2013 — and its lasting popularity as one of AUG's earliest, most recognizable finishes.
Why is there no Field-Tested or Battle-Scarred Hot Rod?
The finish is float-capped at just 0.08, well below the thresholds needed to reach Field-Tested, Well-Worn, or Battle-Scarred. That tight range means Factory New and Minimal Wear are the only two grades that can ever exist for this skin.
What are the best gloves for the AUG | Hot Rod?
The glossy chrome-and-red look pairs naturally with red or metallic-toned gloves, keeping the loadout's warm, high-shine feel consistent. For the best AUG Hot Rod glove combo, look at red leather or chrome-accented gloves to match the candy-paint finish.
