AUG | Hot Rod (Minimal Wear)
The AUG | Hot Rod (Minimal Wear) is the more affordable of only two grades this candy-red finish comes in, sitting just below Factory New on a famously tight float range.
Design
A high-gloss chrome base sits under a candy-red anodized coat, giving the Hot Rod its glossy, automotive-inspired look — a Valve creation that ships with the line "Automatic. Systematic. Hydromatic."
AUG | Hot Rod (Minimal Wear) Float and Wear
Minimal Wear is the only grade below Factory New that this finish reaches, since the Hot Rod's float caps out at 0.08 — there's no Field-Tested, Well-Worn, or Battle-Scarred version at all. Even at this bottom grade the difference from Factory New is minor; the red-over-chrome finish still looks close to pristine.
AUG | Hot Rod Rarity
This is a Mil-Spec Grade skin, the blue tier and the most commonly issued grade in CS2's rarity system — notable here mainly because the price doesn't match that common rarity.
AUG | Hot Rod Case and Collection
It's part of The Assault Collection from the Arms Deal update in August 2013, one of the game's original weapon collections, and it was never issued its own case — copies are found via collection trade-ups or the market. Mil-Spec finishes generally appear around 79.92% of the time in cases carrying that grade.
AUG | Hot Rod Patterns
There's no pattern variation on the Hot Rod — every copy shows the same chrome-and-red finish regardless of seed, so a rare version isn't something to search for. Float is the only real variable.
StatTrak & Souvenir
Neither a StatTrak nor a Souvenir edition was ever made for this finish. Souvenir weapons only come from Major-tournament packages, and The Assault Collection has never been part of one.
AUG | Hot Rod Price
Minimal Wear is the cheaper of the Hot Rod's two available grades, offering nearly the same glossy red look as Factory New at a small discount, though this remains a grail-tier finish overall thanks to its age and popularity. It's available to buy on Skin.Land with instant delivery and no hidden fees.
FAQ
Is Minimal Wear worth buying over Factory New for the Hot Rod?
Often, yes. Because the whole finish is float-capped at 0.08, Minimal Wear looks nearly identical to Factory New, so it's a sensible way to save some money without giving up much visual quality on this otherwise expensive skin.
How old is the AUG | Hot Rod?
It dates back to the Arms Deal update in August 2013, making it one of AUG's earliest available finishes, released as part of The Assault Collection. Its age is a big reason it now commands grail-tier pricing despite its common Mil-Spec rarity.
Will the Hot Rod ever get a Field-Tested version?
No — the finish's float range is fixed at 0.00 to 0.08, and that cap doesn't change over time. Factory New and Minimal Wear are the only two grades this skin has ever had or will have.
