The AWP | Containment Breach (Battle-Scarred) is a Covert sniper rifle skin with a dark body and glowing radioactive-green splatter on a toxic biohazard theme, in its most heavily worn condition. It's the cheapest way into a coveted Covert AWP, trading surface condition for the lowest entry price.

Design

A community submission from the artist Apel, Containment Breach wraps the AWP in a contamination motif — acidic neon-green splatter thrown across a dark base, showing mutated rats streaming out of a radioactive forest. The bright green burning against the dark body gives it that unmistakable toxic, hazmat-lab identity, matched by the flavor line: "Who knows what radioactive diseases they carry…"

AWP | Containment Breach (Battle-Scarred) Float and Wear

At Battle-Scarred the finish wears its damage openly — heavy scratching and paint loss spread across the body, thinning the dark surface in places. The neon-green splatter survives as the anchor that keeps the skin readable, and because the artwork ignores float, the toxic-green identity stays intact even at the roughest end of the scale. It's the trade-off grade: maximum wear for minimum cost.

AWP | Containment Breach Rarity

Rarity: Covert, the red tier. It tops the standard weapon grades, sitting above Classified, and it's the rarest grade in the case — a big part of why this AWP carries the reputation it has.

AWP | Containment Breach Case and Collection

The skin is a Shattered Web Case drop from The Shattered Web Collection, both introduced with Operation Shattered Web in November 2019. With the Covert tier as a whole hitting only about 0.64% of case openings (odds shared across the tier's skins), genuine unboxes are few and far between, so nearly all copies are picked up on the market.

AWP | Containment Breach Patterns

Pattern variation isn't a factor for this finish — the artwork and green splatter are fixed on every copy, with no paint seed or "blue gem" to hunt. What separates one from another is simply its wear and float.

StatTrak & Souvenir

A StatTrak™ edition is available and keeps a running confirmed-kill counter; it's a rarer, more expensive drop than the base skin, and the counter is permanent, carried along whenever the item is traded or sold. There's no Souvenir version to be had, because Souvenir weapons come exclusively from Major-tournament souvenir packages and this case was never given out in that form.

FAQ

Is the Battle-Scarred version still recognizable?

Yes. Despite the heavy scuffing, the dark base and the bright green splatter keep the design clearly readable at a glance in-game. Battle-Scarred is about accepting obvious wear in exchange for the lowest price on a Covert AWP, not losing the toxic-green look that gives the skin its identity.

Why doesn't the green artwork fade at Battle-Scarred?

Because wear affects the exterior surface, not the paint design itself. The scratches and paint loss show up in the dark body around the artwork, while the neon-green splatter stays as vivid as it is on any other grade. That's why even the roughest copies still glow with the same toxic color.

Is Battle-Scarred a good budget pick?

If you're chasing this Covert AWP on the tightest budget, yes. You get the same recognizable splatter and biohazard theme as the pricier grades, just on a more battered body. Buyers who want cleaner looks should step up to Field-Tested or higher, but for pure cost-to-entry, this is the floor.
