AWP | Oni Taiji (Field-Tested)
The AWP | Oni Taiji (Field-Tested) is a Covert sniper skin carrying a hand-painted samurai-versus-demon scene, in its most commonly traded condition. Field-Tested shows honest, visible wear on a finish whose Covert status and detailed artwork keep it firmly in high-end territory regardless.
Design
Oni Taiji began as a community design by the artist L'grand, hand painted with samurai facing off against oni — the demons of Japanese folklore — in warm reds, gold accents, and dark shading. It's an illustrative, woodblock-flavored take rather than a simple pattern, paired with a fittingly grim in-game line: "Face your demons."
AWP | Oni Taiji (Field-Tested) Float and Wear
At Field-Tested the finish picks up light scratching along the rails and edges and the surface softens a touch, but the painted scene stays fully legible and the reds and gold keep their color. This is the condition most copies trade in, and for many buyers it's the practical sweet spot — the complete look a step down from the higher grades and their prices.
AWP | Oni Taiji Rarity
Rarity: Covert. The red tier stands at the very top of the standard weapon rarity grades, and on the AWP it ranks this finish among the most desired skins in the game — the most exclusive slot a weapon can fill.
AWP | Oni Taiji Case and Collection
Introduced with Operation Hydra in May 2017, Oni Taiji is part of The Operation Hydra Collection and comes out of the Operation Hydra Case. As a Covert it's the rarest grade in the set — the Covert tier sits at roughly 0.64%, shared across the tier's skins — and with the Operation Hydra Case no longer in the active drop pool, the pool of copies is fixed, so the market is where most of them come from now.
AWP | Oni Taiji Patterns
Pattern variation doesn't factor into Oni Taiji — the samurai-and-demon scene is placed the same on every copy, meaning there's no paint seed or blue-gem to seek out. Only float and wear separate one copy from another.
StatTrak & Souvenir
You can also find a StatTrak™ Oni Taiji, which tacks on a confirmed-kill counter; it's rarer and more expensive than the standard drop, and the counter is permanent, following the item through every trade or sale. There's no Souvenir variant — Souvenir weapons issue only from Major-tournament souvenir packages, and this skin's origin was a purchasable case, not a Major package.
AWP | Oni Taiji Price
Field-Tested lands in the middle of the Oni Taiji range — more attainable than the near-mint grades yet still a high-end, grail-tier AWP. It's also the most liquid grade, changing hands more often than any other exterior. It's available to buy on Skin.Land with instant delivery and no hidden fees.
FAQ
Does the Field-Tested Oni Taiji look worn?
A little, but not badly. You'll see light scratching on the rails and edges and a slight softening of the surface, yet the painted scene and its red-and-gold palette stay clearly on display. At normal in-game distances it still presents as the full Oni Taiji, which is a big reason the grade is so popular.
Why is Field-Tested the most common Oni Taiji?
Because the finish spans a fairly wide float range and a large share of drops land in the Field-Tested band. That makes it the exterior traded most often, and the deeper pool of listings tends to keep it the more reachable grade compared with the near-mint conditions above it.
Is the Field-Tested Oni Taiji still a premium skin?
Absolutely. Even at this exterior its Covert rarity and detailed artwork keep it a high-end, grail-tier AWP. Field-Tested simply offers the most realistic route into ownership — you get the full samurai-and-demon look and the same prestige without chasing the very top floats.
