AWP | Oni Taiji (Battle-Scarred)
The AWP | Oni Taiji (Battle-Scarred) is a Covert sniper skin, its hand-painted samurai-versus-demon scene in the most heavily worn grade. It's the lowest entry point to a skin that never truly comes cheap — surface damage in exchange for the smallest ticket into ownership.
Design
Designed by the community artist L'grand, Oni Taiji is hand painted with samurai battling oni — the demons of Japanese folklore — across the rifle in warm reds, gold accents, and shadowed dark tones. It reads more like an illustration than a graphic pattern, and it's finished off with a fittingly ominous in-game line: "Face your demons."
AWP | Oni Taiji (Battle-Scarred) Float and Wear
At Battle-Scarred the finish wears its damage openly, with heavy scratching and paint loss across the body and the scene noticeably faded. Notably, this finish is float-capped at 0.50, so its Battle-Scarred copies never reach the extreme end of the wear scale — the damage stays lighter than on many skins, and the painted figures remain identifiable even at their roughest.
AWP | Oni Taiji Rarity
Rarity: Covert, the red tier — the topmost of the standard weapon rarity grades. That standing puts this finish among the AWP's, and the game's, most coveted skins, sitting in the most exclusive slot a weapon can take.
AWP | Oni Taiji Case and Collection
A member of The Operation Hydra Collection, Oni Taiji debuted with Operation Hydra in May 2017 and is unboxed from the Operation Hydra Case. It's the rarest grade in that set as a Covert — the Covert tier figures at roughly 0.64%, shared across the tier's skins — and since the Operation Hydra Case is out of the active drop pool, the supply is fixed and small, a major driver of the price.
AWP | Oni Taiji Patterns
No random pattern applies to Oni Taiji — the painted samurai-and-demon scene is fixed in place on every copy, so there's no paint seed or blue-gem to hunt. Float and wear alone separate one example from the next.
StatTrak & Souvenir
There is a StatTrak™ Oni Taiji, and it adds a confirmed-kill counter; it's rarer and pricier than the standard drop, and the counter is permanent, following the item through every trade or sale. No Souvenir variant was ever made — Souvenir weapons drop only from Major-tournament souvenir packages, and this finish came from a purchasable case, not a Major package.
AWP | Oni Taiji Price
Battle-Scarred is the cheapest grade of the skin, the entry-level route to owning the design — but "entry-level" here still means a high-end, grail-tier AWP. If you want this prized finish for as little as it ever costs, this is the way in. It's available to buy on Skin.Land with instant delivery and no hidden fees.
FAQ
Is the Battle-Scarred Oni Taiji still recognizable?
Yes. Despite the heavy scuffing and faded paint, the samurai-and-demon scene and its red-and-gold scheme keep the design readable at a glance in a match. Battle-Scarred is about accepting obvious wear in exchange for the lowest entry price, not losing the artwork that gives the skin its character.
Why doesn't the Battle-Scarred Oni Taiji look completely destroyed?
Because the finish is float-capped at 0.50 rather than the full 1.0, its most worn copies never reach the extreme end of the scale. The damage is real and visible, but it stays milder than on skins that run to a higher float cap, so the painted scene holds together across the body.
Is Battle-Scarred the cheapest way to own an Oni Taiji?
Yes — it's the lowest rung on the price ladder for the finish. That said, "cheapest" is relative for a Covert AWP this scarce; even a battered copy is a serious, high-end purchase. If budget is the deciding factor, this exterior is the most accessible door into ownership.
