AWP | Pit Viper (Battle-Scarred)
The AWP | Pit Viper (Battle-Scarred) is a Restricted sniper skin wearing its green-and-black snakeskin pattern in the most heavily worn condition. It's the lowest-cost way into the viper design, trading surface condition for the cheapest entry price.
Design
Pit Viper keeps to one idea: a snakeskin hydrographic in green and black, wrapped around the AWP to imitate a real viper's scales. It's a Valve in-house finish, not a community piece, and it carries flavor text drawn from an in-universe narrative: "I know you don't believe in the cause... and when I expose you, Valeria will have your head."
AWP | Pit Viper (Battle-Scarred) Float and Wear
At Battle-Scarred the finish wears its damage openly — heavy scratching and paint loss spread across the body, and the scales thin out in places. The snakeskin pattern survives as the anchor that keeps it readable. This finish is float-capped at 0.50, barely into the Battle-Scarred band, so copies never reach the extreme end of the wear scale and the viper look stays more legible than a typical worn skin.
AWP | Pit Viper Rarity
Rarity: Restricted, the purple tier. It sits fourth among the standard weapon grades, directly above Mil-Spec and below Classified, and it's a less common drop than the tiers beneath it.
AWP | Pit Viper Case and Collection
The Pit Viper sits in The Italy Collection, released together with the "Out with the old, in with the new" update in November 2013. As a group the Restricted tier drops around 16% of the time (the rate is shared across the tier's skins), and because the collection's skins came via tournament souvenir packages rather than a case you could buy, supply reaches players through the market rather than unboxing.
AWP | Pit Viper Patterns
Because the snakeskin hydrographic sits the same way on every Pit Viper, the finish has no random pattern variation — nothing like a paint seed or blue-gem to hunt for. Wear and float are all that separate one copy from the next.
StatTrak & Souvenir
You won't find a StatTrak Pit Viper — StatTrak weapons derive from weapon cases that ship a StatTrak variant, and this skin was never one of them. A Souvenir variant does exist: because Souvenir weapons only issue from Major-tournament souvenir packages and Italy was part of the tournament map pool, a package such as the EMS One 2014 Souvenir Package could produce a Souvenir Pit Viper, sometimes carrying commemorative stickers that make it a genuine collector's piece.
AWP | Pit Viper Price
Battle-Scarred is the cheapest grade of the skin — the entry-level way to run the viper design for players who care about the look over condition. It keeps the Pit Viper firmly in affordable mid-tier territory, making it an easy, low-risk pickup on Skin.Land.
FAQ
Is the Battle-Scarred Pit Viper still recognizable?
Yes. Despite the heavy scuffing, the green-and-black snakeskin keeps the design clearly readable at a glance in-game. Battle-Scarred is about accepting visible wear in exchange for the lowest price, not losing the viper look — the busy pattern does a lot to carry the appearance even at this grade.
Why doesn't the Battle-Scarred Pit Viper look completely trashed?
Because the finish is float-capped at 0.50 rather than the full 1.0, its Battle-Scarred copies only just cross into the band and never reach the most extreme wear. Combined with a dense pattern that hides damage, the Pit Viper stays more legible here than many lighter, simpler skins do.
Is the Pit Viper a good budget AWP?
For an affordable, distinctive sniper it's a solid pick. The green-and-black snakeskin stands out against the plainer default and cheaper finishes, and at Battle-Scarred it's about as low-cost as a patterned AWP gets. If you want character without spending big, it's an easy way in.
