M4A4 | Howl (Factory New)
The M4A4 | Howl (Factory New) is a Contraband rifle skin — a snarling, howling wolf ringed in orange-red flames across a dark body. Factory New is the top exterior it comes in, and on the most sought-after finish in Counter-Strike that makes it about as prized as a rifle gets.
Design
Valve painted the Howl as a single ferocious image: a wolf's head mid-howl, teeth bared, wrapped in orange-red fire that burns against the dark metal underneath. It's loud, artistic, and instantly recognizable — a design carried entirely by that one blazing motif rather than any repeating graphic.
M4A4 | Howl (Factory New) Float and Wear
Factory New is the flawless end of the scale, and here the flames read at full saturation with the wolf's detailing razor-sharp and no scuffing anywhere on the body. Because the finish is float-capped at 0.40, wear never gets extreme on any copy — but this grade is the pinnacle, and it commands the steepest premium of the four exteriors for exactly that reason.
Howl Rarity
Rarity: Contraband — a one-of-a-kind status that sits above Covert, the standard top tier. The Howl is the only weapon skin in the entire game ever given this grade, and it can no longer be obtained through normal means, which is a huge part of its mystique.
Howl Case and Collection
The finish first launched in May 2014 as a Covert skin inside the Huntsman Weapon Case. On June 11, 2014, Valve reclassified it to Contraband and altered its artwork after a copyright claim over the original design. Since that moment no fresh copies have entered circulation — supply is permanently frozen, which is precisely why it ranks among the most valuable rifles in the game.
Howl Patterns
There's no random pattern roll on the Howl — the flaming-wolf artwork lands identically on every copy, so there's no paint seed or "blue gem" lottery to chase. What separates one from another is float and, above all, whether it carries a StatTrak counter.
StatTrak & Souvenir
A StatTrak™ version does exist, produced from the original 2014 Huntsman Case drops before the reclassification, which makes it extraordinarily rare — far scarcer than the already-scarce standard skin, and its confirmed-kill counter is permanent, staying with the item through every trade. No Souvenir version was ever made: Souvenir weapons come only from Major-tournament packages, and the Huntsman Case was never a Major drop.
M4A4 | Howl (Factory New) Price
Factory New sits at the very top of the Howl's own ladder — the priciest exterior of a skin that already trades at grail-tier, four-figure-plus money. This is genuine flagship-of-the-loadout territory rather than an everyday buy. It's available on Skin.Land with instant delivery and no hidden fees.
FAQ
Why is the Factory New Howl so expensive?
Two reasons stack up. It's the only Contraband weapon in the game with a permanently frozen supply, so demand vastly outstrips the fixed number of copies. On top of that, Factory New is the top exterior of that already-scarce skin, so it draws the highest premium of all four grades.
Can you still unbox a Howl today?
No. It left the drop pool when Valve reclassified it to Contraband in June 2014, so no new copies enter circulation. Every Howl on the market is a pre-existing one changing hands, which is exactly why the price stays sky-high.
Which gloves suit the Howl?
Its orange-red-on-black palette begs for a warm, fiery loadout, so gloves in orange, red, or dark tones tie it together beautifully — think fire-toned or black wraps to echo the flames without fighting the wolf for attention.
