Tec-9 | Brass (Factory New)
The Tec-9 | Brass (Factory New) is a Mil-Spec pistol finish that swaps sections of the frame and slide for warm brass plating. This is the top grade of the ladder, where that brass reads brightest before any handling dulls it.
Design
Valve's own description keeps it simple: parts of the weapon have been replaced with brass, giving the Tec-9 a metallic, almost trophy-like look against its factory black. It's a Valve-made finish, and it carries a fitting flavor line, "Fool's gold," that nods to the shiny-but-humble nature of the metal.
Tec-9 | Brass (Factory New) Float and Wear
Float on this finish spans the full 0.00–1.00 range, and Factory New sits right at the bottom of it. At this grade the brass panels are at their most reflective and the black sections show no scuffing, so the metal-versus-matte contrast is as sharp as the skin ever gets.
Tec-9 | Brass Rarity
Rarity: Mil-Spec Grade, the blue tier and the most common of the standard weapon grades. It's an easy pull by rarity alone, but this particular finish is anything but common to actually own.
Tec-9 | Brass Case and Collection
This finish belongs to The Inferno Collection, which arrived with the Arms Deal update back in August 2013. There's no weapon case tied to it — the regular copy comes from trading up collection items, while Souvenir copies are handed out in Major-tournament packages, and the Mil-Spec tier pulls at roughly 79.92% odds whenever one of those packages is opened.
Tec-9 | Brass Patterns
Brass is a patina-style finish, so there's no rare "blue gem" seed to chase, but the metal texture itself does vary a bit from copy to copy depending on the paint seed. Sharper-eyed buyers do pay attention to seed quality even though wear is the bigger factor.
StatTrak & Souvenir
There's no StatTrak version of this finish. It does exist as both a regular finish and a Souvenir finish — the Souvenir tag first showed up in the ESL One Cologne 2014 Inferno Souvenir Package, and later Major souvenir packages for Inferno kept adding more copies to the pool over the years.
Tec-9 | Brass Price
Factory New commands the top of the Brass price ladder, and with an old, discontinued collection behind it, this finish sits in high-end, grail-tier territory for the Tec-9 line rather than budget pistol-skin range. It's available to buy on Skin.Land with instant delivery and no hidden fees.
FAQ
Why is the Tec-9 | Brass so expensive for a Mil-Spec skin?
Rarity grade and price don't always match. Brass comes from The Inferno Collection, a discontinued 2013 collection with no active case, so supply only grows through old Souvenir packages and trade-ups. That scarcity, not the Mil-Spec label, is what pushes this finish into grail-tier pricing.
Is the Souvenir version different from the regular Tec-9 | Brass?
Visually, no — the brass finish looks the same. The Souvenir tag is a badge tied to a specific Major tournament package and generally carries a premium over the regular copy, but both versions show the identical design described above; there's no StatTrak variant of either.
Does paint seed matter on the Tec-9 | Brass?
Somewhat. There's no special "blue gem" pattern to hunt like on some knives, but the brass patina's texture shifts slightly seed to seed, so a couple of collectors do look for a cleaner-looking seed. Wear and float still matter far more to the overall look.
