Tec-9 | Brass (Field-Tested)
The Tec-9 | Brass (Field-Tested) is a Mil-Spec pistol finish built around brass panels set into the frame's black plastic. It's the classic middle grade — enough honest handling to show, without losing the finish's warm metallic look.
Design
Per Valve's description, parts of the weapon have simply been replaced with brass, so the appeal is that metal-on-black contrast rather than any painted artwork. It's a Valve-made finish carrying the flavor text "Fool's gold," a wink at a metal that shines but isn't worth much.
Tec-9 | Brass (Field-Tested) Float and Wear
Float runs the full 0.00–1.00 span on this finish, and Field-Tested lands in the middle of it. The brass has picked up a mellower, slightly duller sheen by this point, and some light marking shows on the black sections, but the two-tone look is still easy to read at a glance.
Tec-9 | Brass Rarity
Mil-Spec Grade puts this in the blue, most-common tier of the standard weapon grades by classification alone — though, again, that says nothing about how easy the actual finish is to find.
Tec-9 | Brass Case and Collection
The finish comes out of The Inferno Collection, released with the Arms Deal update in August 2013, and it never had its own weapon case. Regular copies are built through trade-up contracts using collection items, while Souvenir copies only ever came from Major packages, with roughly a 79.92% pull rate for the Mil-Spec tier from those packages.
Tec-9 | Brass Patterns
Being a patina finish, Brass skips any blue-gem-tier pattern, but its metal texture does vary a little by paint seed between copies. It's a minor factor next to wear, but it's there for buyers who care to look.
StatTrak & Souvenir
This finish has no StatTrak edition. What it does have is a Souvenir version alongside the regular one — first seen in the ESL One Cologne 2014 Inferno Souvenir Package and repeated in a run of later Major souvenir packages since.
Tec-9 | Brass Price
Field-Tested drops a step below Minimal Wear on the price ladder, offering a middle-ground cost for a middle-ground look. Even here, the discontinued Inferno Collection keeps values in high-end, grail-tier territory rather than cheap pistol-skin range. It's available to buy on Skin.Land with instant delivery and no hidden fees.
FAQ
How much does Field-Tested wear show on the Brass finish?
It's moderate. The brass loses some of its sheen and the black plastic picks up light marking, but the overall look stays clearly recognizable. It's a noticeable step down from Minimal Wear in shine, but far from the heavy scuffing of the worst grades.
Is Field-Tested the best value grade for this skin?
For a lot of buyers, yes — it costs less than the two cleaner grades while keeping a fair amount of shine, though the finish stays pricey overall due to the discontinued Inferno Collection behind it. Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred go lower still if price is the only concern.
Which gloves pair well with the Tec-9 | Brass?
The warm brass tone leans toward gold or tan-toned gloves, which pick up the metallic accents nicely, while black gloves play off the frame's factory-dark sections for a more subdued match. Either direction keeps the loadout coordinated with this finish's two-tone look.
