What Are the Shadow Daggers?
Shadow Daggers debuted on September 17, 2015, with the Shadow Case, and unlike most other knife models, they were the only knife that case ever offered — no sibling knives sharing the drop pool here. Like any knife pulled from a case's special slot, the original-era finishes — Fade, Slaughter, Blue Steel, Stained, Case Hardened, Forest DDPAT, Boreal Forest, Crimson Web, Night, Scorched, Safari Mesh, and Urban Masked — aren't actually part of a named weapon-skin collection; that label only applies to a case's regular weapon drops.
The daggers picked up two more waves of finishes after that. The second wave arrived with the Spectrum Case in March 2017 and Spectrum 2 Case in September 2017, introducing standard Doppler variants, Marble Fade, Tiger Tooth, Damascus Steel, Rust Coat, and Ultraviolet — the same two cases that added matching finishes to the Falchion Knife and a handful of other models. Then Gamma Doppler, Freehand, Lore, Autotronic, Black Laminate, and Bright Water showed up later still, through the Operation Riptide Case (September 2021) and Dreams & Nightmares Case (January 2022).

★ Shadow Daggers | Doppler Black Pearl — the grail pick
Black Pearl pairs a silvery frame with a deep violet-and-black marbled blade on both daggers, closer to polished obsidian than the icy blue some Doppler gems lean toward. Only Factory New and Minimal Wear exist right now, and oddly, the thinner-stocked Minimal Wear carries a higher asking price than Factory New — a stock quirk, not a sign Minimal Wear is actually worth more. Factory New is the practical buy here at around $560.
★ Shadow Daggers | Crimson Web — a piece of Counter-Strike history
Crimson Web features deep red blades covered in a black spiderweb pattern, paired with dark handles — no gloss or chroma finish here. The web placement varies between individual copies, making some patterns more desirable than others. Factory New is down to just three listings, which is exactly why it's sitting at a steep ~$480 near the top. Best buy: a Field-Tested copy runs about $50 and gets you the same red finish with the expected extra wear, instead of paying a thin-stock premium for a pristine edge. Our wear guide breaks down exactly how much that extra wear actually changes a blade's look.
★ Shadow Daggers | Doppler Ruby — a rare Doppler gem variant
Ruby features rich ruby-red blades with a glossy, marbled finish, creating a warmer and more vibrant look than Black Pearl's dark violet tones. It's currently listed in Factory New only, at around $330 across a healthy dozen listings. Like any Doppler gem, it's as much a talking point for investment-minded buyers as it is a loadout piece, so it's worth reading up before treating any single copy as a sure thing.
★ Shadow Daggers | Case Hardened — the pattern-chase pick
Case Hardened is the one finish here where the listed price only tells half the story — every copy has its own pattern seed, and how much blue versus gold shows up swings value well beyond what wear alone explains. A typical Factory New copy runs around $220. Best buy: Field-Tested goes for about $70 for a common pattern — see where Shadow Daggers lands against the rest of the field in our CS2 knife tier list.
★ Shadow Daggers | Gamma Doppler Emerald — giving off strong emerald vibes
Emerald swaps the standard Doppler palette for a vivid green marbled blade against teal handles. It's the rare gem variant of Gamma Doppler, which also comes in four standard phases. It's currently listed in Factory New only, at around $210 across a solid 20 listings.
★ Shadow Daggers | Fade — breathtaking design
Fade runs a gradient from pink and magenta through purple and into a warm orange-yellow at the tip, with the exact spread shifting from copy to copy depending on the pattern. Healthy Factory New stock (85 listings) actually makes it cheaper than its own thinly-stocked Minimal Wear, so Factory New at around $120 is already the smart buy — no need to compromise on condition here.
★ Shadow Daggers | Autotronic — an industrial red-and-steel finish
Autotronic combines anodized red sections with exposed metallic surfaces and steel-mesh detailing, giving both daggers a distinctive industrial look, matching Valve's own flavor text describing it as "anodized red" with lightweight steel mesh. Factory New runs around $80. Best buy: Field-Tested goes for about $40 with the largest stock of any wear on this finish.
★ Shadow Daggers | Damascus Steel — the budget pick
Damascus Steel won't break the bank, and it still looks the part — a mottled, forged-metal finish across both blades, no color or gloss required. Prices barely move across the wear ladder: Factory New runs about $60, while the cheapest listed wear, Field-Tested, goes for around $40 with by far the deepest stock of any Shadow Daggers finish on this list.
FAQ
When were the Shadow Daggers first introduced?
Shadow Daggers debuted in CS:GO on September 17, 2015, with the Shadow Case — the only knife that case ever offered. They later carried over to CS2 when the game launched in 2023. A second wave of finishes (Doppler, Marble Fade, Tiger Tooth, Damascus Steel, Rust Coat, Ultraviolet) arrived via the Spectrum Case and Spectrum 2 Case in 2017, and a third wave (Gamma Doppler, Freehand, Lore, Autotronic, Black Laminate, Bright Water) came through the Operation Riptide Case and Dreams & Nightmares Case in 2021–2022.
What's the most expensive Shadow Daggers finish?
Among the finishes featured here, Doppler Black Pearl tops the list at around $560 Factory New, with Crimson Web close behind at roughly $480 — though Crimson Web's Factory New price reflects just a handful of listings rather than a stable market.
What's the cheapest Shadow Daggers finish on this list?
Damascus Steel and Autotronic are the most affordable finishes featured here, with Field-Tested copies starting at around $40.
Is StatTrak available for the Shadow Daggers?
Yes, all eight finishes are available in StatTrak variants. However, StatTrak knives aren't always more expensive than their regular counterparts, so it's worth comparing current prices before buying.
Did the Shadow Daggers come with any sibling knives?
Not at launch — the Shadow Case was unique in offering only one knife. Later cases that added new finishes, like the Spectrum Case, did share their drop pool with other knife models such as the Falchion Knife.
Are Shadow Daggers worth buying?
If you want a specific finish, buy that one directly rather than hoping to unbox it — the drop odds for any single knife, let alone a specific finish, are under 1% (see our rarity breakdown). For looks and value together, Fade and Damascus Steel both punch above their price, and our buying guide is worth a read before a bigger purchase like the Doppler picks above.
