The AK-47 | Case Hardened (Battle-Scarred) is a Classified rifle skin in color case-hardened steel, its random blue-gold-silver pattern unique to every copy. Battle-Scarred is the cheapest grade, and while it carries the most surface damage, the finish still shows off the pattern that makes this skin special.

Design

Case Hardened is finished in color case-hardened steel, echoing the real-world method of heating metal with wood charcoal at high temperatures until a marbled blue-gold-silver mix forms across the surface. The finish is Valve-made, and it carries a tongue-in-cheek in-game line: "A little color never hurt anyone."

AK-47 | Case Hardened (Battle-Scarred) Float and Wear

The finish spans the entire 0.00–1.00 float range, and Battle-Scarred sits at the far, roughest end of it, with heavier scratching and paint loss spread across the body. Even at this extreme the dense case-hardened pattern keeps it more readable than most heavily worn skins, and the paint seed still drives value over the float — a blue-heavy Battle-Scarred can still command a real premium.

AK-47 | Case Hardened Rarity

Rarity: Classified — the pink tier, one rung under Covert and the second-highest of the standard weapon grades. It's a genuinely uncommon pull from a case.

AK-47 | Case Hardened Case and Collection

Belonging to The Arms Deal Collection, this finish comes from the CS:GO Weapon Case, which shipped with the Arms Deal update back in August 2013 as the very first weapon case in the game. With the Classified tier dropping about 3.2% of the time and that original case long removed from the active drop pool, supply is fixed — the market, not unboxing, is where most copies come from now.

AK-47 | Case Hardened Patterns

Each copy is one of a kind, set by a random paint seed that decides how the blue, gold and silver distribute over the body. Seed 661 leads every ranking, marked by a golden scar near the rear sight, with a Tier-1 group of 179, 151, 321, 387, 670 and 955 trailing it. Genuine blue gems from this list are extremely rare and sell for five to six figures; an off-the-shelf Battle-Scarred copy is almost certainly an ordinary pattern instead.

StatTrak & Souvenir

The finish also comes as a StatTrak™ AK-47 | Case Hardened with a confirmed-kill counter, dropping from the CS:GO Weapon Case as a separate, rarer pull; the counter is permanent, carrying over when the item is traded or sold. No Souvenir version was ever produced — Souvenir weapons come only from Major-tournament packages, and The Arms Deal Collection has never been one.

Is the Battle-Scarred Case Hardened still recognizable?

Yes. Despite heavy scuffing, the color case-hardened steel and its blue-gold-silver pattern stay clearly readable in-game — the busy finish hides damage far better than a flat single-color skin. Battle-Scarred is about accepting visible wear for the lowest price while keeping the signature look, not losing it.

Which is the best AK-47 | Case Hardened pattern?

Seed 661 is the top pattern overall, prized for its near-complete blue coverage and a golden mark near the rear sight, with a Tier-1 group — 179, 151, 321, 387, 670 and 955 — right behind it. These true blue gems are extremely rare and sell for five to six figures regardless of exterior; even a Battle-Scarred copy carrying one of these seeds would be a genuine grail.

Can a Battle-Scarred copy still be a blue gem?

Yes. Blue-gem status comes from the paint seed, not the wear grade, so a Battle-Scarred copy carrying seed 661 or a Tier-1 seed is still a blue gem and still valuable. Because the exterior matters little on this skin, a strong pattern at Battle-Scarred can outprice a plain copy in a far cleaner grade.
