AK-47 | Case Hardened (Factory New)
The AK-47 | Case Hardened (Factory New) is a Classified rifle skin finished in color case-hardened steel, a random blue-gold-silver splotch that lands differently on every copy. Factory New is the top grade this skin comes in, showing that patchwork with no scuffing in the way.
Design
Case Hardened recreates a real-world process: steel heated with wood charcoal at high temperatures until the surface takes on a marbled sheen, usually a blue-gold-silver splotch though the balance shifts with the pattern. It's a Valve-made finish, and it carries a tongue-in-cheek in-game line: "A little color never hurt anyone."
AK-47 | Case Hardened (Factory New) Float and Wear
This finish spans the full float range from 0.00 to 1.00, and Factory New sits at the very bottom of it. At this grade the case-hardened surface has no visible scuffing at all, but the metallic look hides wear well at every grade regardless, so the real driver of value isn't the float — it's the paint seed. Two Factory New copies can differ hugely in price depending on how much blue their seed puts on top.
AK-47 | Case Hardened Rarity
Rarity: Classified — the pink tier, second from the top of the standard weapon grades, just below Covert. It's a genuinely uncommon grade to pull from a case.
AK-47 | Case Hardened Case and Collection
The AK-47 | Case Hardened is part of The Arms Deal Collection and drops from the CS:GO Weapon Case, released with the Arms Deal update in August 2013 — the very first weapon case in the game. The Classified tier as a whole drops about 3.2% of the time from the case, and with that original case long out of the active drop pool, supply is fixed — most copies now change hands on the market rather than getting unboxed.
AK-47 | Case Hardened Patterns
No two copies share a pattern, since a random paint seed decides how the blue, gold and silver spread across the body. Seed 661 stands alone as the number-one blue gem, recognizable by a golden "scar" near the rear sight, and a Tier-1 group of seeds — 179, 151, 321, 387, 670 and 955 — trails just behind it. Genuine blue gems like these are extremely rare and sell for five to six figures; the overwhelming majority of copies, this one included unless verified otherwise, carry an ordinary pattern.
StatTrak & Souvenir
A StatTrak™ AK-47 | Case Hardened exists and adds a confirmed-kill counter; it drops from the CS:GO Weapon Case as a separate, rarer pull, and the counter is permanent, carrying over when the item is traded or sold. There's no Souvenir version — Souvenir weapons come only from Major-tournament souvenir packages, and The Arms Deal Collection was never handed out at one.
