AWP | Mortis (Battle-Scarred)
The AWP | Mortis (Battle-Scarred) is a Classified sniper rifle skin with a death-themed skull motif in muted brown, drawn from the Death tarot card, in its most heavily worn condition. It's the cheapest way into a moody AWP finish, trading surface condition for the lowest entry price.
Design
Mortis keeps its look dark and understated: a skull-and-death motif soaked in muted brown, built on atmosphere rather than bright graphics. It's a community design from OniLolz, Zaphk, and 2Minds, who drew on the Death tarot card, and it ships with a fitting in-game line: "Every end is a new beginning."
AWP | Mortis (Battle-Scarred) Float and Wear
At Battle-Scarred the finish wears its damage openly — heavy scratching and paint loss spread across the body, and the darker coat thins in places. The skull artwork survives as the anchor that keeps the skin readable. Because the finish is float-capped at 0.64, its Battle-Scarred copies never reach the most extreme wear, so the death motif stays legible even at its roughest.
AWP | Mortis Rarity
Rarity: Classified — the pink tier, sitting one step under Covert and second from the top of the standard weapon grades. It's a genuinely uncommon grade to pull from any case.
AWP | Mortis Case and Collection
Part of The Clutch Collection, the Mortis drops from the Clutch Case that launched in February 2018. The Classified tier as a whole unboxes about 3.2% of the time from the case (a rate shared across the tier's skins), and since the Clutch Case is still in circulation, supply stays plentiful — most copies, though, are bought on the market rather than opened from the case itself.
AWP | Mortis Patterns
There's no random pattern variation on this finish — the skull motif and muted brown wash appear the same on every copy, so no paint seed or "blue gem" is worth chasing. Wear and float are all that separate one Mortis from the next, with nothing in the paint layout to hunt.
StatTrak & Souvenir
There's a StatTrak™ Mortis as well, adding a confirmed-kill counter that tracks your frags; it's rarer and pricier than the standard drop, and the counter is permanent, staying with the item across every trade and sale. No Souvenir version exists — Souvenir weapons are made only from Major-tournament souvenir packages, and the Clutch Case has never been a Major drop.
AWP | Mortis Price
Battle-Scarred is the cheapest grade of the skin — the entry-level way to run the death motif for players who care more about the look than the condition. With the finish already sitting in budget territory for an AWP, this grade is about as low-cost as the sniper gets. It's available to buy on Skin.Land with instant delivery and no hidden fees.
FAQ
Is the Battle-Scarred Mortis still recognizable?
Yes. Despite the heavy scuffing, the muted brown base and skull artwork keep the design clearly readable at a glance in-game. Battle-Scarred is about accepting visible wear in exchange for the lowest price, not losing the death theme — the motif still comes through even at this grade.
Why doesn't the Battle-Scarred Mortis look completely trashed?
Because the finish is float-capped at 0.64 rather than the full 1.0, its Battle-Scarred copies never reach the most extreme wear on the scale. Combined with a dark, muted base that hides damage well, the Mortis stays more legible here than many lighter-colored skins do at the same grade.
Which gloves go with the Mortis?
Its dark, muted brown palette suits an understated loadout, so brown, tan, or black gloves fit best — earthy wraps play off the washed-out tones, while black holds the somber, low-key mood. Bright or neon pairings tend to clash with the skin's shadowy death theme, so they're best avoided.
