M4A4 | Steel Work (Battle-Scarred)

The M4A4 | Steel Work (Battle-Scarred, BS) is an Industrial Grade rifle skin with a worn steel body, red ribbons, and a matching red grip and magazine, in its most heavily worn condition. It's the cheapest way onto the finish, trading surface polish for the lowest entry price.

Design

The look is all raw metal and contrast: a worn steel base with deep industrial tones, marked by red ribbons and a color-matched red grip and magazine. Valve created it, favoring a bold, forged-metal feel over any fine detail, so the appeal is in the industrial texture and those red accents rather than elaborate artwork. Its in-game line reads "It's on site!"

M4A4 | Steel Work (Battle-Scarred) Float and Wear

At Battle-Scarred the finish wears its damage openly — heavy scratching and paint loss spread across the body, and the steel base is worn thin in places. The red ribbons and grip survive as the anchor that keeps the skin readable. This finish is capped at a float of 0.70, so it never reaches the extreme end of the wear scale, and the industrial look stays legible even at its roughest.

M4A4 | Steel Work Rarity

Steel Work is an Industrial Grade skin — the light-blue tier, just above Consumer Grade and below Mil-Spec on the weapon-grade ladder. Its commonness as a rarity is a large part of why the skin costs so little at every exterior.

M4A4 | Steel Work Case and Collection

Steel Work sits in The Radiant Collection, and no weapon case drops it. Instead it enters circulation through in-game collection drops and trade-up contracts, which keeps its supply steady rather than tied to a retired case. As a result, the market is where the vast majority of copies come from.

M4A4 | Steel Work Patterns

Because the steel texture and red ribbons sit the same way on every copy, the finish has no random paint-seed variation — nothing like a "blue gem" or special alignment to hunt for. Wear and float are all that separate one copy from the next.

StatTrak & Souvenir

There's no StatTrak Steel Work to be found. Because the kill-counter variant only comes out of a weapon case and this finish isn't part of one, it was never produced. A Souvenir version is missing for a different reason — Souvenir weapons are issued solely in Major-tournament souvenir packages, and The Radiant Collection has never been a Major drop.

M4A4 | Steel Work Price

Battle-Scarred is the cheapest grade of the skin — the entry-level way to run the industrial design for players who care more about the look than the condition. If you want the steel-and-red M4A4 for as little as possible, this is the way in. It's available to buy on Skin.Land with instant delivery and no hidden fees.

FAQ

Is the Battle-Scarred grade still recognizable?

Yes. Despite the heavy scuffing, the steel base and red ribbons keep the design readable at a glance in-game. Battle-Scarred is about accepting visible wear in exchange for the lowest price, not losing the industrial look entirely — the finish still comes through clearly at normal viewing distance.

Why doesn't the Battle-Scarred Steel Work look completely trashed?

Because the finish is float-capped at 0.70 rather than the full 1.0, its Battle-Scarred copies never reach the most extreme wear. Combined with a base that already looks weathered by design, the skin stays more legible here than many brighter, higher-contrast finishes do at the same grade.

Which gloves go with the M4A4 | Steel Work?

Its steel-gray body with red accents suits an industrial red-and-metal loadout, so red, black, or gray gloves work best — a red pair picks up the ribbons and grip, while gray or black wraps lean into the raw-metal base. Neutral wraps with a red stripe tie the whole look together nicely.
