MAC-10 | Case Hardened (Factory New)

MAC-10 | Case Hardened (Factory New)

The MAC-10 | Case Hardened (Factory New) is a Restricted SMG finish that coats the receiver in a mottled steel, blue, and gold patina from a simulated case-hardening process. Factory New is the top grade of the range, showing that marbling at its most vivid before any wear sets in.

Design

The finish comes from color case-hardening the metal with wood charcoal at high heat, which leaves behind a swirling mix of blue, gold, and gunmetal tones rather than a painted graphic. It's a Valve-made finish, and it carries the line "A little color never hurt anyone" as its in-game flavor text.

MAC-10 | Case Hardened (Factory New) Float and Wear

Float runs the full 0.00 to 1.00 range on this finish, and Factory New sits at the bottom of that scale. At this grade the metal looks freshly forged, with sharp edges on the marbling and no scuffing to dull the blue-and-gold contrast. It's the best canvas for seeing exactly what pattern a given copy rolled.

MAC-10 | Case Hardened Rarity

Rarity: Restricted, the purple tier — one step above Mil-Spec and one below Classified in the standard weapon-grade ladder. It's a mid-upper rarity, not the rarest possible pull but well above the common grades.

MAC-10 | Case Hardened Case and Collection

This finish belongs to The 2021 Dust 2 Collection, which arrived with Operation Riptide in September 2021. It isn't tied to a weapon case, so regular copies mainly come from trade-ups or the market rather than a case unbox. Separate Souvenir copies were handed out starting with the Stockholm 2021 Dust II Souvenir Package, with later Major souvenir packages adding more over time.

MAC-10 | Case Hardened Patterns

Because this is a Case Hardened finish, the paint seed matters a lot: it decides how much steel-gray, gold, or blue shows up on a given copy, and copies that land heavily blue are the sought-after "blue gem" examples collectors chase. No specific seed numbers are confirmed here, but the general rule holds — seed drives the color mix, and float only affects surface wear on top of it.

StatTrak & Souvenir

There's no StatTrak version of this finish. It does exist as both a regular finish and a Souvenir finish — the Souvenir copies come exclusively from Major-tournament souvenir packages, first the Stockholm 2021 Dust II Souvenir Package, with additional Majors issuing their own packages afterward.

MAC-10 | Case Hardened Price

Factory New commands the top of the price ladder for this finish, reflecting both its premium tier and the fact that vivid, well-defined patterns show best at this grade. It's available to buy on Skin.Land with instant delivery and no hidden fees.

FAQ

Is Factory New worth the premium on the Case Hardened?

If pattern quality matters to you, yes — Factory New shows the marbling at its crispest, which is exactly what buyers hunting for a heavily blue seed want to see clearly. If you're less picky about the exact color mix, a lower grade delivers a similar overall look for less.

Does Factory New guarantee a good pattern on the Case Hardened?

No. Float and pattern are separate — Factory New only guarantees a low float, not a specific seed. A Factory New copy can still land mostly gray with little blue, while a more worn copy could carry a striking seed. Check the actual pattern before buying if color is your priority.

What are the best gloves for the MAC-10 | Case Hardened?

The steel-blue-gold marbling pairs best with cool, metallic tones, so the best MAC-10 Case Hardened glove combo leans on blue or gray leather gloves that echo the patina without clashing with the gold flecks. Driver Gloves in a blue colorway or a gray-toned Sport pair both keep the loadout cohesive.
