The MAC-10 | Case Hardened (Field-Tested) is a Restricted SMG finish with a swirling steel, blue, and gold patina produced by a simulated case-hardening process. Field-Tested is the popular middle grade, balancing a still-clear pattern against a friendlier price.
Design
Instead of paint, the finish results from case-hardening the metal with wood charcoal at high temperatures, leaving a marbled mix of blue, gold, and gunmetal that differs from copy to copy. This one's a Valve-made finish, paired with the flavor text "A little color never hurt anyone."
MAC-10 | Case Hardened (Field-Tested) Float and Wear
Float on this piece stretches across the full 0.00 to 1.00 scale, and Field-Tested lands in the middle of it. The marbling still comes through clearly at this grade, though you'll notice a bit more surface handling than on Minimal Wear. It's the go-to grade for players who want the pattern visible without paying for the cleanest possible copy.

It comes from The 2021 Dust 2 Collection, introduced during Operation Riptide back in September 2021. There's no case behind it, so most regular copies are picked up via trade-up contracts or bought directly rather than unboxed. Souvenir copies started rolling out with the Stockholm 2021 Dust II Souvenir Package, and more Major events have added their own packages since then.
MAC-10 | Case Hardened Patterns
Being a Case Hardened finish, the specific seed on a copy determines how much of the pattern leans gray, gold, or blue, with the heaviest blue rolls prized as "blue gem" copies by collectors. No exact seed numbers are on record for this finish, so this is general guidance rather than a ranked list — seed governs color, wear governs surface condition, and the two don't correlate.

Does Field-Tested hide the blue gem coloring?
No. Whatever balance of blue, gold, and gray a copy's seed produced stays visible at Field-Tested — moderate surface wear doesn't cover up the underlying marbling. A well-patterned Field-Tested copy can look just as striking as a pricier grade.
Is a Souvenir Field-Tested copy worth more than a regular one?
