Nova | Rust Coat (Battle-Scarred)
The Nova | Rust Coat (Battle-Scarred) is an Industrial Grade shotgun skin with a gray, rusted-looking body that still works, in its most weathered condition. It's the cheapest way into the corroded design, and the heavy wear leans right into the rust theme.
Design
The design is unapologetically grimy: a gray shotgun coated to look corroded and beaten, still fully operational under the rust, all rugged industrial character. It's a Valve-made finish, complete with a dark in-game line — "Some people don't need to hide how dirty their deeds are."
Nova | Rust Coat (Battle-Scarred) Float and Wear
Battle-Scarred marks the roughest end of the finish, with heavy scuffing and paint loss piled onto the built-in rust. The skin is float-capped at 0.80 rather than the full 1.0, so its Battle-Scarred copies never reach the most extreme wear the scale allows — and since the design is already corroded, even this grade reads as intentionally filthy rather than broken.
Nova | Rust Coat Rarity
Rarity: Industrial Grade — the light-blue tier and near the base of the standard weapon grades. It's a common rarity, even though the rusted finish carries a premium price within the Nova lineup.
Nova | Rust Coat Case and Collection
The finish is part of The Havoc Collection, which debuted with Operation Broken Fang in December 2020. There's no weapon case for the collection, so copies mostly circulate via collection drops rather than case pulls, keeping supply tied to that route.
Nova | Rust Coat Patterns
Because Rust Coat runs a fixed design, the paint seed has no bearing on how the finish looks — the corroded texture is placed the same on every copy. There's nothing like a blue-gem seed to chase; a copy's identity comes down to its wear and float alone.
StatTrak & Souvenir
This Nova has no StatTrak variant, and the reason is mechanical: StatTrak is only ever minted inside weapon cases, while this finish drops from a collection that never had one. A Souvenir edition is absent for a parallel reason — Souvenir weapons come solely from Major-tournament packages, and Rust Coat was never part of one.
Nova | Rust Coat Price
Battle-Scarred is the cheapest grade of the skin — the entry-level way to run the rusted design for players who value the look over pristine condition. If you want a genuine Rust Coat for as little as possible, this is the way in. It's available to buy on Skin.Land with instant delivery and no hidden fees.
FAQ
Is Battle-Scarred Rust Coat still recognizable?
Very much so. Since the design is built to look corroded, the heavy scuffing at Battle-Scarred blends into the rust rather than obscuring it, so the skin reads clearly as Rust Coat in-game. This grade is about the lowest price, and the theme absorbs the extra wear better than most skins.
Why doesn't Battle-Scarred Rust Coat reach the very worst wear?
Because the finish is float-capped at 0.80 instead of the full 1.0, its Battle-Scarred copies stop short of the most extreme end of the scale. In practice you'd barely notice — the design already looks corroded, so the difference between this cap and a full 1.0 is largely academic here.
Does Battle-Scarred Rust Coat come in a special edition?
No. There's no StatTrak version, since that's a case-only feature and this finish has no case, and no Souvenir version, since those come only from Major-tournament packages Rust Coat never appeared in. The regular finish is the sole version at every wear, Battle-Scarred included.
