What Does Damage Prediction Do CS2?
Damage prediction in CS2 involves several factors like weapon type, hit location (head, body, limbs), armor status, and other in-game mechanics. The game uses hitboxes (invisible areas around players) to register when a shot lands and calculates the damage based on these variables.
Damage prediction helps players understand and predict how much damage they will deal or take in combat situations, improving their gameplay strategy and awareness.
How To Turn On Damage Prediction CS2?
If you want to turn on damage prediction, follow these steps:
- Open CS2
- Click on “Gear” icon in the top left corner
- Then click on “Game”
- Scroll down to find it or just click “Damage Prediction”
- Adjust the Desired Settings

Is CS2 Damage Prediction On Or Off?
In Counter-Strike 2 (CS2), the Damage Prediction feature has three components:
- Predict Body Shot Effects: Disabled by default.
- Predict Head Shot Effects: Disabled by default.
- Predict Kill Ragdolls: Enabled by default.
This means that the body and headshot prediction effects are turned off by default, while the kill ragdoll prediction is turned on.
So when the “No” is in front of the parameter, it means disabled. And vice versa, if “Yes” - enabled.
Best Damage Prediction Settings CS2
First of all, effectiveness of damage prediction depends on your ping. In games where everyone has low ping, damage prediction will be able to work to its full potential. But it can feel different if we talk about cases where players have more ping, at least 40-60.
On high ping, it will even be turned off automatically by the game. So if you don’t have a stable connection, or your favorite server is located far from you, you should disable Damage Prediction.
If everything is okay with your ping, the best damage prediction settings in CS2 are just the default ones.
- Predict Body Shot Effects: Disabled by default.
- Predict Head Shot Effects: Disabled by default.
- Predict Kill Ragdolls: Enabled by default.
At the same time, you can also try any of these settings on your own. But the default one is most common and stable compared to others.
CS2 Do Pros Use Damage Prediction?
The answer is yes, but overall minority of pro players are using Damage Prediction. Take a look at this image:

We see a lot of red columns, which means that pro players have disabled all damage prediction features. Some of them, like donk or kyousuke turned on “Predict Kill Ragdolls”. This might be due to their aggressive playstyle, with the rag doll setting allowing him to switch between targets more easily.
We can also see Complexity players: hallzerk, Grim, JT. They have all three parameters turned on.
So overall, of the 120, 73 pros have all options disabled, while 41 of them only have the kill ragdoll setting enabled.
Should I Use Damage Prediction in CS2?
It’s up to you. You will lose nothing by trying these settings, but overall, the tendency shows that they are useless. Don’t try it, especially if you have high ping, because it will be turned off automatically.
But if you have low ping, the damage prediction can bring some new experience for you, and it can become enjoyable for you.
