The average age of CS2 players sits at 22 years old. While the number was a bit higher during the glorious days of CS:GO, it is evident that the younger generation is ready to take up the mantle. Many CS2 players wonder if they’re young or old enough to start their professional esports career. Unfortunately, there are certain standards and stereotypes when it comes to the average player’s age, as with pretty much any other sports discipline. While you may have seen a player who’s considerably older than his teammates, the age spares no one.  The pro scene used to be represented more by the older players, but as time flies, we’ve seen an emergence of young prodigies like donk, headtr1ck and jimpphat who are just as good as the experienced veterans. While there are still a few active CS:GO legends such as karrigan (34), ANGE1 (35, current Valorant pro player) and FalleN (33), many professional players retire without ever making it to 30 as a professional cyber athlete.

Average Age of CS:GO and CS2 Pro Players

The average CS2 pro age is around 22 years old. However, if we take only the current top 7 of HLTV scoreboard, then the average age goes up to 24. This age group can be regularly seen performing at the Tier 1 competitions and is well represented in the top organizations. Let’s take a closer look at some of the best current HLTV teams and their players:

MOUZ

MOUZ has suffered a reshuffle after a reshuffle, but now they seem to be somewhat stable with one of the youngest Tier 1 rosters on the pro scene.

Oldest player: Spinx (24)

Natus Vincere

NaVi’s lineup showcases the mixture of both experience and youth, with the oldest player being experienced IGL Aleksib, who’s only 27 years old. It seems like their current roster can stay together for many years to come.

Who is The Oldest CS:GO/CS2 Pro Player?

The oldest CS2 pro player on a Tier 1 scene is the FaZe Clan’s very own Finn Andersen , better known as “karrigan”. He made history by becoming the oldest CS:GO Major Winner back in 2022 at 32 years and 42 days old. He broke the record previously held by Zeus, who won PGL Major Krakow 2017 at 29 years and 289 days old. Aside from the oldest CS2 pro, the Brazilian legend FalleN and the Danish IGL Snappi, are among the oldest active CS2 players, currently at 33 and 34 years of age respectively.

Who is The Youngest CS:GO/CS2 Pro Player?

The youngest CS:GO/CS2 pro player is currently Ayush Batbold, better known as “mzinho”, who was born on June 28, 2007. Mzinho plays for The MongolZ and he’s 17 years old. We couldn’t also not just mention Danil Kryshkovets, professionally known as “donk”, who made history by becoming the youngest CS:GO/CS2 player to ever win a Major. If winning a Major wasn't enough already, Danil also was named MVP of the Perfect World Shanghai Major, coincidently making him the youngest Major MVP in the entire CS history.

Conclusion

The data shows that while the majority of players are in their early to mid-20s, there is still decent presence of both younger and older players in different organizations. Despite being dominated by 21-25 year old players, CS2 allows some outliers to shine despite their possible age differences. Players like karrigan and donk prove that talent and work ethic trump all the obstacles in a professional player’s way. While it is still a serious hurdle in the way of many players, it is still possible to compete and win at the highest level of CS2.
