The Damascus Steel series knives are quite discreet and classy, sporting a pattern inspired by a legendary durable crucible steel used to create curved swords and daggers originated from Damascus. These knives have a distinct difference in the way the blade looks compared to other dark knives such as the NightBlack Laminate and Blue Steel. Each blade has a combination of different steel alloys that creates this recognizable wavy texture. The Damascus Steel finish has a wide variety of available patterns for each knife, but not as many distinct ones as some other finishes. In this article, we’ll explore some of the best Damascus Steel patterns in CS2 and help you choose the best for your inventory.

What Knives Have Damascus Steel Finish?

The first Damascus Steel knives were added to CS:GO in 2015, including the Flip Knife, Bayonet, Gut Knife, Karambit and M9 Bayonet. There are 15 different types of knives one can purchase with the Damascus Steel finish in CS2. These knives can be unboxed from the Chroma, Spectrum and Prisma cases and feature the following knives:

  • Bayonet & M9 Bayonet

  • Karambit

  • Butterfly Knife

  • Talon Knife

  • Stiletto Knife

  • Ursus Knife

  • Navaja Knife

  • Falchion Knife

  • Huntsman Knife

  • Bowie Knife

  • Shadow Daggers

  • Flip Knife

  • Gut Knife

  • Nomad Knife

  • Paracord Knife

The distinct feature that separates the Damascus Steel finish from the others is the combination of two steel alloys that creates this flowing water-like texture on the metal parts of a knife. The high-contrast wavy pattern is unmistakable and only present in this finish.

The Downside of Trading Damascus Knives

However, even though the Damascus Steel is kind of cool and moderately visually appealing, there is a strong caveat when choosing a specific pattern for your knife. While in real life it takes a lot of effort and craftsmanship in order to forge a Damascus steel knife, the Counter-Strike version is far less impressive in terms of pattern variety. They’re all kind of the same with a couple of patterns that have rather large weaves that seem to be more appreciated. There are no “more desirable” or “valuable” Damascus patterns, as they’re all pretty much similar with small differences in the flow of the texture. Hence, there’s no overpay for any pattern, since this aspect is negligible with this finish. Think of it like this – just select a pattern to your appreciation and enjoy your knife!

Notable Damascus Steel Patterns

As we have mentioned above, there’s no overpay for any particular pattern for any Damascus Steel knife. These are just some of the examples that look quite pleasing with the updated CS2 lighting system.
