Pistols
Pistols are the weapons with which every CS game begins. Knowledge of the basic pistols, the USP-S for CT and the Glock-18 for T, is fundamental. Sometimes the outcome of the first round determines the fate of the game. If you lose, your team is demoralized, and you lose round after round. If you win, it boosts morale.
Or, for example, the Deagle is a powerful weapon that can kill an opponent with a single bullet. It is as powerful as the AWP or AK-47. And it only costs $700. Therefore, pistols are the foundation that every CS player should be familiar with.
Pistol | Price | Kill | DMG | Armor Ignore | Reload Time | Recoil |
Desert Eagle | $700 | $300 | 53 | 93.20% | 2.2s | 48.2 |
R8 Revolver | $600 | $300 | 86 | 93.20% | 2.3s | 20 |
Dual Berettas | $300 | $300 | 38 | 57.50% | 3.77s | 27 |
Five-SeveN | $500 | $300 | 32 | 91.15% | 2.2s | 25 |
Glock-18 | $200 | $300 | 30 | 47.00% | 2.3s | 18 |
Shotguns
One of the most useless weapons in CS2, sorry, shotguns lovers. But it’s true. They’re very limited - you can use them only over a short range. Yes, each of them are powerful, can one-shot anybody, even with a kevlar. But on pro scene no one picks it, and it means a lot. Anyway, it wouldn't hurt to learn more about these weapons.
Shotgun | Price | Kill | DMG | Armor Ignore | Reload Time | Recoil |
MAG-7 | $1300 | $900 | 30 | 75.00% | 2.4s | 165 |
Nova | $1050 | $900 | 26 | 50.00% | 1.8s | 143 |
Sawed-Off | $1100 | $900 | 32 | 75.00% | 0.5s | 154 |
XM-1014 | $2000 | $600 | 20 | 80.00% | 1s | 80 |
If you decide to play with shotguns, XM-1014 might be your choice for CT. Despite being overpriced and the kill bonus is less, it’s the best weapon of this class right now. You can try MAG-7, another good option, but with less rapid fire.
SMGs
We’re back to another important weapon class - SMGs. After winning the pistol round, the best option to buy SMGs. They’re cheap, giving a good amount of money for kills, and have great rapid fire. Let’s take a look at them in more detail.
SMG | Price | Kill | DMG | Armor Ignore | Reload Time | Recoil |
PP-Bizon | $1400 | $600 | 27 | 63.00% | 2.4s | 18 |
MAC-10 | $1050 | $600 | 29 | 57.50% | 2.6s | 18 |
MP7 | $1500 | $600 | 29 | 62.50% | 3.1s | 16 |
MP9 | $1250 | $600 | 29 | 60.00% | 2.1s | 19 |
UMP-45 | $1200 | $600 | 35 | 65.00% | 3.5s | 21 |
MP5-SD | $1500 | $600 | 27 | 62.50% | 3s | 25 |
For many years now, the MAC-10 for T and the MP9 for CT have remained the main SMGs. They are truly effective, inexpensive, and very useful. Sometimes even more so than rifles. So feel free to buy them against pistols.
LMGs (Machineguns)
In terms of uselessness in the game, these machine guns are comparable to shotguns. Their advantage is that they produce more smoke, and you can make a couple of spectacular highlights. For example, an ace with a Negev. Otherwise, it's a waste of money.
LMGS | Price | Kill | DMG | Armor Ignore | Reload time | Recoil |
M249 | $5200 | $300 | 32 | 80.00% | 5.7s | 25 |
Negev | $1700 | $300 | 35 | 71.00% | 5.7s | 20 |
Rifles
So, we've reached the main weapons in CS. My advice is to memorize this information as soon as possible. It will definitely come in handy in the game and help you win dozens of games.
Rifles | Price | Kill | DMG | Armor Ignore | Reload Time | Recoil |
AK-47 | $2700 | $300 | 36 | 77.50% | 2.4s | 30 |
AUG | $3300 | $300 | 28 | 90.00% | 3.8s | 24 |
FAMAS | $2050 | $300 | 30 | 70.00% | 3.3s | 20 |
M4A4 | $3000 | $300 | 33 | 70.00% | 3.1s | 23 |
SG 553 | $3000 | $300 | 30 | 100.0% | 2.8s | 24 |
Galil AR | $1800 | $300 | 30 | 77.50% | 3s | 20 |
M4A1-S | $2900 | $300 | 38 | 70.00% | 3.1s | 22 |
Overall, all rifles for both sides are very useful and important. Galil and FAMAS will be great option after winning the pistol, or if you don’t have enough money for AK/M4. AK-47 and M4A4 with M4A1-S are based on full-buys. AUG and SG 553 are still quite situational weapons.
Sniper Rifles
The last one, but not the least, are sniper rifles. They are often overlooked, but they are very insidious. The Scout is a cunning weapon that is inexpensive but can have a big impact. You've probably heard of the AWP — if you're up against an experienced sniper, the game will be very difficult to win.
Sniper | Price | Kill | DMG | Armor Ignore | Reload Time | Recoil |
AWP | $4750 | $100 | 115 | 97.50% | 4x | 78 |
SSG 08 | $1700 | $300 | 88 | 85.00% | 4x | 33 |
SCAR-20 | $5000 | $300 | 80 | 82,50% | 3,1s | 31 |
G3SG1 | $5000 | $300 | 80 | 82,50% | 4,7s | 30 |
Last trick that I want to tell you at the end of this guide. Sometimes it doesn’t matter what gun you have in the round, skins are most important. Still don’t know where to find them for the best price? Check out Skin.Land. It’s the best market with a great variety of skins for affordable prices.
CS2 Weapon Stats FAQ
Which CS2 weapon deals the most damage per shot?
The AWP tops every weapon at 115 base damage, enough to one-shot kill almost anywhere on the body. Among snipers the SSG-08 (Scout) does 88, and the R8 Revolver leads the pistols at 86 - out-hitting even the Desert Eagle's 53.
How much does an AK-47 cost in CS2?
The AK-47 costs $2,700 and rewards $300 per kill. It is the T-side workhorse rifle, capable of a one-shot headshot even through armor. On the CT side the equivalents are the M4A4 at $3,000 and the M4A1-S at $2,900.
What is the cheapest rifle in CS2?
The Galil AR is the cheapest full rifle at $1,800, followed by the FAMAS at $2,050. Both are popular force-buy picks after a lost pistol round, giving you rifle firepower when you can't yet afford an AK-47 or M4.
Do weapon skins change a gun's stats?
No. Skins are cosmetic only and have zero effect on damage, recoil, fire rate or accuracy. A default AK-47 performs exactly like the most expensive AK-47 skin, so the numbers in these stat tables apply no matter which finish you equip.
