This skin is extremely attractive and desirable for many players due to its cool color scheme. It looks as if the metal parts of the knife have been hardened by high temperature.

When we first saw it, we got the impression that the knife had been decorated with patterns that looked like spilled gasoline on asphalt when exposed to sunlight.

It is undoubtedly a wonderful addition to the collection of skins.

Case Hardened Butterfly Knife

This really cool skin has been in our favorite game for quite a long time, more than 10 years. Specifically, it was released on July 1, 2014, when Breakout Operation began.

Case Hardened is the name of the collection where Butterfly Knife skin is.

It was not created by a famous designer, but rather by Valve themselves.

Its high value is primarily because of its rarity. It's quite simple. This knife has only  in cases obtained from Breakout Operation, which has long since ended, resulting in cases limited in number.

Another reason is its cool and attractive appearance. This skin is vibrant and highly eye-catching. It undoubtedly contributes to a player's prestige within the community. This is not surprising, as there is an unwritten rule in the game that a player's status largely depends on the coolness of their knife skin.

One of the disadvantages of the skin is that as the quality deteriorates, it loses its brightness, becomes worn out, dark, and loses most of its color.

Butterfly Knife Blue Gem Pattern Seed

Let's start with the most desirable pattern, which is well known as number 182.

It features the highest segment of blue among all Butterfly Knife Blue Gem patterns, specifically 94%. Additionally, there are 6% yellow and purple colors, which are represented by 2 small spots on the top of the blade and 1 spot near the handle.

This pattern gained attention back in 2014, when players noticed an interesting phenomenon when they were collecting different Butterfly Knife color patterns from their Case Hardened Collection. At the same time, the community came to an unspoken agreement that the more blue there is, the cooler the pattern is.

The second coolest pattern of the Case Hardened Butterfly Knife is the 494. Its highlight is a completely pure blade covered in bright and deep blue. The only place where you can see purple and yellow streaks is near the handle.

And finally, the third pattern in terms of coolness is 652. Here, everything is the opposite of 494. The tip of the blade and about 30-40% of the blade from tip have a gorgeous golden color, while the rest of the knife, including the handle, is blue. And not just any blue, but a vibrant and deep blue. This is an exceptional feature of this pattern, as there are no color spots or small inclusions.

Butterfly Knife Case Hardened Blue Gem Price

Now we will only talk about the Butterfly Knife with the 182 pattern.

The price is affected by 2 parameters: quality and the presence of StatTrak.

Due to the fact that the difference between the highest and the lowest quality of the pattern is very significant, for example, in terms of the appearance of paint scuffs, paint darkening, then the range between them is considerable.

So, the pattern in the quality of Factory New will cost now 20000$-25000$. Minimal Wear is approximately 16,000-18,000$. Field Tested is 14,000-16,000$. Well Worn is around 13,000$. Finally, Battle Scarred is currently priced at around 10,000-12,000$.

If you want a version equipped with StatTrak, be prepared to add about 20% to the prices mentioned above.

If we look at price dynamics, the price of this skin has increased by a factor of 9-10 over the 11 years it has been available. Interestingly, the price has only increased by a factor of 5-6 compared to the initial price before the release of CS2 in September 2023. At the time of the release, there was a sharp price increase, and then, during 2024, prices fell to the level of August 2023, but during 2025, they resumed their growth, which has not stopped yet.

Information about transactions involving the Butterfly Knife Case Hardened Blue Gem is very scarce, and this is understandable. Few people want to draw unnecessary attention to themselves. However, the community occasionally learns about significant transactions. For example, it is known that the last major transaction involving the Blue Gem took place in June 2025, when it was sold for $25,000. It is also known that the knife was sold on Buff. The new owner's name is kept confidential.
