Recently, there have been a few notable changes on the CS2 pro scene, and today we witnessed yet another transfer bombshell. There was a time when many believed s1mple would stay with Natus Vincere until his retirement, just like “ceh9” did. Unfortunately, the CS2 era hasn’t been too kind to the Ukrainian sniper; his benching followed by a short stint at Team Falcons turned out to be far from what we expected. Lo and behold, following today’s news, it was announced that s1mple will be joining FaZe Clan on loan from Natus Vincere. Here are all the details regarding this move.

s1mple joins FaZe Clan

As it stands, s1mple will be joining FaZe on a loan deal from NaVi. This marks Oleksandr Kostyliev’s return to the professional esports arena after almost a half-year break, during which he had a brief playing experience with Team Falcons. Unfortunately, that period didn’t bring any success, and Falcons have since signed m0NESY. The updated FaZe Clan will test its strength in two upcoming S-tier tournaments: IEM Dallas 2025 and BLAST.tv Austin Major 2025.

Widely regarded as one of the greatest Counter-Strike players of all time alongside ZywOo, the Ukrainian managed to collect a Major victory, Intel Grand Slam, was ranked #1 in 2022 HLTV rating and 21 HLTV MVP medals under his belt.

The current FaZe roster:

  •  Finn “karrigan” Andersen
  • Håvard “rain” Nygaard
  • Jonathan “EliGE” Jablonowski
  • David “frozen” Čerňanský
  • Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev

What team is s1mple on?

Currently, Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev is a FaZe Clan player on loan from NaVi as of May 5, 2025. Returning to the AWPer role, he will replace Helvijs “broky” Saukants for the upcoming IEM Dallas and BLAST.tv Austin Major. This move was announced on May 4, 2025, via FaZe Clan’s social media, and the reaction within the CS2 community has been very enthusiastic. We haven’t seen both FaZe fans and critics this excited since the 2022 Major win.

The unexpected move from months without tournament practice to competing in S-tier tournaments is surely surprising, but it has reignited excitement in the CS2 scene. Hopefully, this experiment will end well, and we’ll see FaZe Clan return to its former glory. Let us know what you think about this move.

S1mple history with FaZe

There is rumored tension between s1mple and Jonathan “EliGE” Jablonowski, his now teammate at FaZe Clan. It is said that during their time together at Team Liquid in 2016, some conflicts arose due to s1mple’s explosive personality. His blunt criticism and immature way of dealing with teammates at the time reportedly sparked clashes. Following s1mple’s departure from Team Liquid, EliGE publicly stated he would never play with s1mple again. Ironically, the two will have to put their differences aside if they want to bring FaZe back to glory. After almost a decade, perhaps it’s all water under the bridge.

Another funny moment regarding the relationship between s1mple and FaZe is the recent stream where s1mple freestyled the so-called “FaZe diss” where he rapped:

“I hope I'll never [be in] FaZe, they suck ” and suggesting that if the organization had signed him earlier, they “would have f**ked everyone together. What a multi-talented person.

Best skins in s1mple’s inventory

He may not be as omnipresent social media-wise as he was a few years ago, but nevertheless, s1mple still has a good taste for cool CS2 skins. S1mple’s inventory features a wide array of rare and valuable skins, all of which are available at Skin.Land.

1. AWP | Dragon Lore

This skin is considered the holy grail of CS2 skins, with Souvenir variants selling for over $60,000 and sometimes even higher. Its legendary status is further amplified by s1mple’s use of it in high-profile matches, making it a symbol of prestige among collectors and fans alike

2. AWP | Gungnir

Inspired by Norse mythology, Gungnir is the second most popular AWP skin in Counter-Strike history. The beautiful AWP skin is covered in detailed runic imagery with the blue and ivory base colors. S1mple used to rock this AWP with a couple of Dignitas stickers during the previous Major.

3. AWP | Fade

The beautiful gradient on the AWP Fade can be a great addition to anyone’s collection. However, it is reserved only for those who have a pretty big wallet. Being one of the most accomplished esports athletes in the world can provide just that.
