What’s new in the latest CS2 update? Is there a CS2 operation?
Valve rolled out an update featuring more than a hundred items, including three new weapon collections, a brand-new Weapon Case, stickers, and we have also witnessed the introduction of the Weapon Charms. These cute attachments allow players to customize their favorite skins in a new way. You can read the official patch notes by this link.
Aside from eye candy and other visual elements, Valve has also announced minor network fixes, a slew of bug fixes and map fixes, and most importantly, they fixed the odd-looking leg movement. Movement animation looks fluid and organic, and the player model no longer moves like a drunk ballerina. Don’t expect the 128 tick rate or the return of a few iconic maps, but this update hints that Valve has big plans for CS2 in the near future, so don’t panic. Even the CS2 devs are replying to players on X for the very first time, so we’re heading into the future full of glee and optimism.
Is there a CS2 operation?
Sorry to disappoint, but this update is not an operation nor a season. So, no new missions, campaigns or war games modes. The Armory update is centered around new skins and implementation of the Weapon Charms. The return of Cache (and possibly Cobblestone or Train) is expected somewhere in 2025. However, the Armory can be considered an operation solely judging by the size of the update. For this update, you’ll need a 4.85 GB of free disk space, since there are some significant changes in UI plus the addition of all new items, so make sure to free up some space.
What have been added in ‘The Armory’ update?
October 2 is the first day of The Armory update and once players acquire and activate the pass, players earn stars that can be exchanged to unlock skins, stickers and other items. Also, players can now unlock new Elemental and Craft stickers, a completely new type of stickers that can be used for creative compositions and crafts.
‘The Armory’ CS2 update prioritizes the addition of visual content over some major gameplay features. There are three weapon collections and a weapon case, and we also have the Weapon Charms as an additional mean to customizing skins in Counter-Strike 2. The detachable keychains that can be put anywhere and are implemented similarly to Valorant’s Buddies. It has also been semi-confirmed by Valve that all charms have paint seeds, so your charm may have a unique color pattern. Valve also announced via X that “the update also allows you to preview items on your weapons from the Community Market and Armory without owning them–you can even preview sticker scrapes”, which is great news for creative players who delve into occasional weapon customization.
In terms of skin collections, there’s a wide variety of cool skins thematically related to sport, subculture and street art. There’s also a time-limited Heat Treated Deagle, which utilizes similar mapping of the Case Hardened skins. Here are some examples from the new weapon collections:

Final words
Overall, The Armory is a promising “non-operation” that will definitely feed the hungry souls of our community until the new content arrives. It is a great opportunity to fill your inventory with cool skins, stickers and weapon charms. Don’t forget that once you’re done with the grind, you can sell the loot on Skin.Land for real money, if you’re looking to get returns on your $15 pass investment. Best of luck!
