Just like in any other serious competitive game, CS2 players must abide by the principles of integrity and mutual respect in order to keep the game fair and enjoyable for everyone. There are certain examples of poor behavior that may disrupt the gaming experience for other players, and in order to prevent that from happening, Valve has a mechanism called the Trust Factor. Essentially, Trust Factor in CS2 is a tool that helps to screen out and match the players with similar behavioral patterns. Let’s just say, if a player gets reported a lot, he’s obnoxious and toxic, then he shall enjoy the company of players with similar traits or even worse. The premise of this algorithm is pretty good, but does it actually work? You’ll find out everything you need about the Trust Factor in today’s article.

How To Check and See Trust Factor In CS2?

Unfortunately, Valve made CS2 Trust Factor scores unavailable to players and third-party services. And if there’s a service or a person that claims that they can access your Trust Factor, we would strongly advise you to stay away from them, as they’re most likely nothing but a bunch of scammers. Well, while there’s no official way of checking your Trust Factor in CS2 as of now, you can get a “ballpark” figure by queuing up in CS2. These methods are just speculative and will give you a general idea on the quality of your Trust Factor:

  • If your games consist of cheaters, leavers, voice com abusers and other toxic individuals, then there’s a strong chance that your Trust Factor value is extremely low.

  • Create a party with your friends and if your Trust Factor is substantially lower, they might get a pop-up message preventing or warning them from queuing up with you.

How Does Trust Factor Work In CS2?

The Trust Factor is an algorithm developed by Valve and is meant to determine various factors of a player’s behavior, and based on the compiled information he is matched with players of similar behavioral patterns. Think of it as a sorting system. Let’s look at the more specific questions regarding Trust Factor.

Does CS2 Have a Trust Factor?

Yes, Valve brought back Trust Factor from CS:GO to CS2 and employs it to match players according to their behavior and other factors.

What Affects Trust Factor In CS2?

If you’re an active and polite player with a secure Steam account, then you have nothing to worry about, as these are the main signs of a high Trust Factor player. Trust Factor takes into account the age and level of your Steam profile, how many games you’ve played and how many games you own, the number of reports received by other players, chat interaction and a few other minor elements. So all in all, if you’re not a griefer, not an AFK enjoyer or not as toxic as Reptile from Mortal Kombat, your Trust Factor must be ok.

How To Know If You Have Low Trust Factor CS2?

If you encounter one too many cheaters, chat and voice comms abusers, then your Trust Factor must be pretty low. You’ll also know if you queue up with your friends and they have a message that they’re being placed in a Low Trust Factor lobby because of you.

Why Do I Have A Low Trust Factor In CS2?

As we have said previously, this may boil down to a few factors, including:

  • toxic behavior in chat

  • griefing, team killing, AFK, leaving the games

  • frequent reports by other players

  • lower level of Steam account with only a few interactions or purchases

  • lack of 2FA

  • some players say that smurfing caused them being placed in Low Trust Factor lobbies

  • verified usage of cheats

How To Increase And Get Better Trust Factor In CS2?

In order to increase Trust Factor, you must play consistently without griefing and verbally abusing your teammates, invest time and resources into your Steam account. You should also know that it will take some time, so you might have to endure a number of games with unhinged players.

Trust Factor In CS:GO

Trust Factor was introduced in CS:GO on November 13, 2017 in order to improve the matchmaking experience and safeguard fair and respectful players from the toxic ones. You can read more about the release of Trust Factor and the patch notes on the Counter-Strike website. Even though the CS2 experience is completely different, the core principles of Trust Factor remain the same. Trust Factor is a necessary measure to establish fairness and mutual respect, because in games as big as CS2, the issues related to poor behavior are bound to happen.
