The prices of CS:GO skins can vary within the wide range, from literally cents to hundreds or even thousands of dollars, as they are influenced by many factors. Here are several tips to consider when buying some in-game items to stand out from others and improve the image of your weapons. Knowing these characteristics you can understand, how good the price is and what offer is better.

What is Float Value?

First, you need to look at the float value of a CS:GO skin. This parameter can change from 0.0 to 1.0, and it reflects the state of the weapon in terms of how much it has worn out during use. The higher the float, the more scratches appear on the surface. The paint can become darker or entirely disappear from some weapon parts. There are five gradations for this parameter, from Factory New to Battle-Scarred.

CS:GO Skin Wear Guide - Everything About Float Value and Wear Levels

In many cases, the difference between Factory New and Minimal Wear is only slight, while Minimal Wear drops with higher probability and consequently is cheaper. So, if you want to save some money, buying skin with Minimal Wear quality is a good option. Usually, Factory New prices are the highest, but there are some rare cases, when players like a specific look of a Well-Worn or even Battle-Scarred Skin, so they rise in price.

Note, that the float value is set once, when the skin drops, and does not change thereafter. This is good news: while the parameter is called “wear”, it does not increase, when you use the skin. So, no matter, how often you equip the skin, its float value remains the same.

Pattern Index

Pattern Index is important for certain skins. It is a number, which represents, how the texture is applied to the weapon model. For most textures, it does not change anything, as the pattern is aligned with the shape of the weapon and does not allow any variation. But for skins that are based on abstract patterns, the pattern index will define, what version of the pattern we see. Sometimes, especially with knives, it means a huge price difference.

Rarity

There are eight rarity categories, from Consumer Grade to Extraordinary. Rarity defines the probability or the amount of effort to get a particular skin. The rarest items can be obtained during the limited period of time, so the supply is limited, and this is why their prices can be exorbitant!

There are also other factors, that can influence the price. For example, there are skins with unique stickers, for example, dedicated to one of the Major events, which will increase in price. When buying CS:GO skins at Skin.Land, you can study all these characteristics before buying, compare different versions of the item and choose the option you like the most. Do not miss the opportunity to enhance your collection for a reasonable price!
