AK-47 | Case Hardened (Field-Tested)
The AK-47 | Case Hardened (Field-Tested) is a Classified rifle skin with a color case-hardened finish, its blue-gold-silver pattern unique to each copy. Field-Tested is the most common, affordable way into the skin, and because the metallic surface hides wear well, it still leaves plenty of budget for the pattern that actually decides the price.
Design
Case Hardened takes its look from real-world color case hardening — steel heated with wood charcoal at high temperatures until the surface turns a marbled blue-gold-silver blend. It's a Valve-made finish, carrying a tongue-in-cheek in-game line: "A little color never hurt anyone."
AK-47 | Case Hardened (Field-Tested) Float and Wear
Sitting in the middle of the finish's full 0.00–1.00 float range, Field-Tested picks up light scratching along the edges and magazine, but the busy case-hardened pattern absorbs most of it at a glance. As with every grade of this skin, the paint seed outweighs the float — a blue-heavy Field-Tested can easily outprice a plain Factory New, so check the pattern before the wear.
AK-47 | Case Hardened Rarity
Rarity: Classified — the pink grade, ranked just beneath Covert and second from the top of the standard weapon tiers. Pulling one from a case is genuinely uncommon.
AK-47 | Case Hardened Case and Collection
Part of The Arms Deal Collection, this finish drops from the CS:GO Weapon Case that arrived with the Arms Deal update in August 2013 — the game's first-ever weapon case. The Classified tier as a group unboxes at about 3.2%, and with that case long gone from the active drop pool, supply stays fixed — buyers get most copies on the market rather than from a case.
AK-47 | Case Hardened Patterns
A random paint seed decides how the blue, gold and silver spread over each copy, so no two ever look identical. Seed 661 is the standout number one, known for a golden mark near the rear sight, with a Tier-1 cluster of 179, 151, 321, 387, 670 and 955 not far behind. Real blue gems from that list are extremely rare and change hands for five to six figures; almost everything else on the market is an ordinary pattern.
StatTrak & Souvenir
A StatTrak™ AK-47 | Case Hardened does exist, adding a confirmed-kill counter as a separate, rarer pull from the CS:GO Weapon Case; the counter is permanent, carrying over whenever the item is traded or sold. A Souvenir version was never made — Souvenir weapons only come from Major-tournament packages, and The Arms Deal Collection has never been one.
AK-47 | Case Hardened Price
Field-Tested is the value entry point to this premium AK finish, cheaper and more common than the higher grades while looking nearly as good thanks to the wear-hiding surface. A standout blue pattern can still lift even a Field-Tested copy well above the norm. It's available to buy on Skin.Land with instant delivery and no hidden fees.
FAQ
Does the Field-Tested Case Hardened look worn?
Barely. The busy, reflective case-hardened surface disguises the light edge scratching a Field-Tested float brings far better than a flat single-color skin would. Most copies read as clean in-game, which is a big reason Field-Tested is such a popular, cost-effective way to own this skin.
Which is the best AK-47 | Case Hardened pattern?
Seed 661 is the undisputed top pick, its near-total blue coverage and golden rear-sight mark putting it in a tier of its own. A Tier-1 group of seeds — 179, 151, 321, 387, 670 and 955 — ranks just under it. These are genuinely rare and worth five to six figures; a Field-Tested copy off the shelf is almost certainly not one of them.
Is the StatTrak version worth it over chasing a good pattern?
StatTrak adds a permanent kill counter and carries its own premium over the standard finish, which appeals if tracking frags on your AK matters to you. On Case Hardened, though, most collectors put their money toward the paint seed instead, since a strong blue pattern moves the price far more than a kill counter does.
