The AWP | Gungnir (Battle-Scarred) is a Covert sniper skin — the pearlescent blue-and-ivory grail with Odin's spear down the rifle, in its most weathered condition. Battle-Scarred is the lowest grade, the most attainable way into a finish that commands grail money right across the ladder.

Design

Gungnir reimagines the AWP as a relic of Norse mythology — a custom-painted body in pearlescent blue and ivory, flooded with cyan and white, as Odin's famed spear runs the length of the weapon. Crafted in-house by Valve, it comes with a fitting line of flavor text: "A weapon for the Allfather."

AWP | Gungnir (Battle-Scarred) Float and Wear

At Battle-Scarred the finish wears its damage openly — heavy scuffing and paint loss spread across the body, and the pearlescent glow is dialed right back. The finish is capped at a 0.60 float, though, so it never reaches the far extreme of the wear scale, and the spear motif with its blue-and-ivory coloring stays legible even here. It's the roughest look Gungnir comes in, and the most affordable.

Rarity: Covert, the red tier — the highest of the standard weapon grades and the rarest color you can obtain aside from knives and gloves. On a skin this coveted, that rarity is a major part of what underpins its value.

AWP | Gungnir Case and Collection

A member of The Norse Collection, Gungnir debuted alongside Operation Shattered Web in November 2019. It has no weapon case — the Norse Collection finishes were earned through Shattered Web drops and can be worked toward via trade-ups rather than unboxed. Covert being the rarest standard grade means genuine copies are extremely scarce, and with the operation finished long ago the supply is fixed, so virtually every one now changes hands on the market.

AWP | Gungnir Patterns

Gungnir shows no random pattern variation — the spear design and its blue-and-ivory wash are fixed in place on every copy, so there's no paint seed or blue gem to chase. What tells one example from another is nothing more than its wear and float.

StatTrak & Souvenir

There has never been a StatTrak version. StatTrak counters are attached to weapon-case drops, and because this finish derives from a collection without an associated case, none was produced. A Souvenir version is missing too — Souvenir weapons issue only through Major-tournament souvenir packages, and Gungnir has never been part of a Major drop.

Is the Battle-Scarred Gungnir still recognizable?

Yes. Despite the heavy wear, the spear motif and the blue-and-ivory coloring keep the design readable at a glance in-game. Battle-Scarred is about accepting a rougher surface for the lowest price on a grail, not losing the look — you're still running an unmistakable Gungnir on the server.

Why doesn't the Battle-Scarred Gungnir look completely destroyed?

Because the finish is float-capped at 0.60 rather than the full 1.0, its Battle-Scarred copies never reach the most extreme end of the wear scale. The damage is obvious, but the coloring and the spear detail hold together better than they would on a skin that runs all the way to a maxed-out float.

Is Battle-Scarred the cheapest way to own Gungnir?

Yes — it's the lowest grade, so it carries the smallest price tag of any condition. That said, "cheapest" is relative on a grail like this: even a Battle-Scarred copy is a high-end purchase, because the finish's scarcity keeps the whole ladder expensive regardless of wear.
