M249 | Gator Mesh (Battle-Scarred)
The M249 | Gator Mesh (Battle-Scarred, BS) is an Industrial Grade green M249 finish in its most heavily worn state. It's the cheapest grade of a scarce old-school finish, trading surface condition for the lowest entry price.
Design
The finish comes from green paint sprayed freehand through mesh fabric, leaving a woven, net-like imprint across the shell of the gun. Valve designed it as a plain, no-frills tactical look — no graphics, no decals, and no in-game quote to go with it.
M249 | Gator Mesh (Battle-Scarred) Float and Wear
This finish is float-capped at 0.60, so even its Battle-Scarred copies never reach the extreme end of the wear scale that a full-1.0 skin would. Damage is heavy here — broad scratching, paint loss, and a dulled green across the body — but the cap keeps things milder than an uncapped skin, and the mesh imprint stays just legible enough to read the design.
M249 | Gator Mesh Rarity
Rarity: Industrial Grade, the light-blue tier that ranks a step above Consumer at the lower end of the standard weapon grades. A common class overall, though this finish is a scarce example of it.
M249 | Gator Mesh Case and Collection
This finish is drawn from The Safehouse Collection, which came in with the November 2013 "Out with the old, in with the new" update, and no weapon case exists for it. Regular copies show up as collection drops, while the Souvenir edition first appeared in the DreamHack 2013 Souvenir Package and then in later Major souvenir packages.
M249 | Gator Mesh Patterns
Since the artwork is fixed, the paint-seed number changes nothing about how the skin looks, and every copy renders the mesh weave the same. No rare seed or blue gem is on the table — the only things that vary between copies are wear and float.
StatTrak & Souvenir
There's no StatTrak version of this finish, as StatTrak is created within cases and this skin never dropped from one. It does exist as a Souvenir finish alongside the regular one, and those Souvenir copies come from Major-tournament souvenir packages — issued first at DreamHack 2013 and at later Majors after that.
M249 | Gator Mesh Price
Battle-Scarred is the lowest rung on this finish's ladder, the most affordable way to own a finish that otherwise ranks as high-end, grail-tier among M249 skins. If you want this scarce green M249 for as little as possible, this is the entry point. It's available to buy on Skin.Land with instant delivery and no hidden fees.
FAQ
Is the Battle-Scarred still recognizable?
Yes. Despite heavy scuffing and a dulled green, the mesh imprint stays visible enough to read the design at a glance. The finish's 0.60 float cap also keeps Battle-Scarred copies from reaching the worst-case wear, so the skin holds together better than many uncapped finishes do.
Why doesn't the Battle-Scarred look completely destroyed?
Because the finish tops out at 0.60 float rather than the full 1.0. That cap means its most-worn copies stop short of the extreme battering an uncapped skin can reach, so while wear is clearly heavy, the mesh texture and green base remain readable.
Is Battle-Scarred a good way to get this finish cheaply?
It's the cheapest way in. Battle-Scarred sits at the bottom of the price ladder, so if you mainly want the finish in your loadout and aren't fussy about condition, it's the budget option. Just remember that even at this grade the skin stays scarce, which keeps its floor higher than most Industrial Grade skins.
