M249 | Gator Mesh (Well-Worn)
The M249 | Gator Mesh (Well-Worn, WW) is an Industrial Grade green M249 finish showing clear, heavier wear. It's a cheaper route into a scarce old-collection finish, trading some surface condition for a lower price.
Design
At its heart this is green spray paint applied freehand over mesh fabric, so the cloth's weave transfers onto the gun as a repeating net texture. The finish is a Valve creation, stripped-down and tactical, without decals, symbols, or any in-game line.
M249 | Gator Mesh (Well-Worn) Float and Wear
Within the finish's 0.00 to 0.60 float span, Well-Worn sits high on the wear scale. Scuffing and paint loss spread noticeably across the shroud and edges, and the green thins in the most exposed spots — yet the mesh imprint still holds as the anchor that keeps the skin readable. For players who care about price over polish, it delivers the look for less.
M249 | Gator Mesh Rarity
Rarity: Industrial Grade — the light-blue grade sitting just above Consumer near the base of the standard weapon tiers. The class is common, but this finish is genuinely hard to come by.
M249 | Gator Mesh Case and Collection
Belonging to The Safehouse Collection from the November 2013 "Out with the old, in with the new" update, this finish has no dedicated weapon case. Its regular copies arrive as collection drops, and the Souvenir version was first handed out in the DreamHack 2013 Souvenir Package before showing up in later Major souvenir packages.
M249 | Gator Mesh Patterns
The look is fixed rather than randomized, meaning the paint seed has no bearing on appearance and each copy shows the mesh weave the same way. There's nothing like a blue-gem seed to track down — wear and float are the sole differences between copies.
StatTrak & Souvenir
A StatTrak edition of this finish doesn't exist; StatTrak comes from cases, and this skin was never packed into one. It does turn up as a Souvenir finish next to the regular version, with those Souvenir copies originating from Major-tournament souvenir packages — the DreamHack 2013 package first, then later Majors.
M249 | Gator Mesh Price
Well-Worn sits near the bottom of this finish's ladder, above only Battle-Scarred (BS), making it one of the more affordable ways into a finish that's otherwise high-end, grail-tier among M249 skins. It's available to buy on Skin.Land with instant delivery and no hidden fees.
FAQ
How rough does the Well-Worn look?
Fairly rough. There's obvious scuffing and paint loss across the shroud and edges, with the green worn thin in exposed areas — heavier than Field-Tested (FT) but not as battered as Battle-Scarred. The mesh imprint survives well enough that the skin stays recognizable in-game.
Is Well-Worn worth buying over Field-Tested?
Mainly if price is the priority. Field-Tested looks noticeably better for a modest step up in cost, so most buyers prefer it. Well-Worn makes sense when you want this scarce finish as cheaply as possible without dropping all the way to the most battered grade.
Why does a worn Industrial Grade skin still cost a lot?
Because supply, not condition, drives its value. This 2013 finish never came from a weapon case and only trickles out of an old collection plus rare Souvenir packages. Even a Well-Worn copy is scarce, so it holds a higher price than its humble Industrial Grade tier would suggest.
