The M249 | Magma (Battle-Scarred) is a Mil-Spec Grade M249 finish with a burned-in red patina in a magma pattern, in its most heavily worn state. It's the cheapest grade of the fiery metalwork finish, trading surface condition for the lowest entry price.

Design

Magma gets its look from a chemical patina rather than paint: copper-plated parts are masked in a magma pattern and burned into a red patina with salt and heat, while the bare metal is darkened by oxidization. It's the work of community artist Algis, and it comes with a fitting in-game line: "A burning rate of fire."

This finish is float-capped at 0.70, so even its Battle-Scarred copies never reach the extreme end of the wear scale that a full-1.0 skin would.
