M249 | Magma (Factory New)

The M249 | Magma (Factory New) is a Mil-Spec Grade M249 finish, its copper-plated body treated with heat and salt to burn a fiery red patina into a magma-like pattern. Factory New is the cleanest grade it comes in, showing the metalwork at its most vivid.

Design

Magma is a chemical patina rather than a printed graphic: copper-plated parts are masked in a magma pattern and given a red patina using salt and high heat, while the unmasked metal is darkened by oxidization. It's a community design by the artist Algis, and it carries a fitting in-game line: "A burning rate of fire."

M249 | Magma (Factory New) Float and Wear

Float on this finish runs from 0.00 to 0.70, and a Factory New copy sits at the very floor of that band. Here the red patina glows richest against the darkened metal, the magma masking reads crisp, and there's no scuffing to dull the copper. For the metalwork at its most vivid, Factory New is the grade to reach for.

M249 | Magma Rarity

Rarity: Mil-Spec Grade — the blue tier, the most common grade of the standard weapon skins. That keeps it an accessible finish despite its striking look.

M249 | Magma Case and Collection

This finish is part of The Winter Offensive Collection and drops from the Winter Offensive Weapon Case, released in December 2013. As a Mil-Spec skin it sits in the case's most common tier, at roughly 79.9%. With the case long out of the active drop pool, supply is fixed and most copies are bought on the market.

M249 | Magma Patterns

Because Magma is a patina finish, the exact texture of the burned-in pattern shifts slightly with the paint seed, so no two copies are quite identical and collectors do favor cleaner, better-defined seeds. There's no rare "blue gem" tier to chase here — it's about finding a seed whose magma masking looks its sharpest.

StatTrak & Souvenir

A StatTrak version of this finish exists, adding a confirmed-kill counter that's permanent and never gets wiped when the item is traded or sold; it's a rarer, pricier pull from the Winter Offensive Weapon Case than the standard skin. There's no Souvenir version, since Souvenir weapons come only from Major-tournament packages and this finish was never offered in one.

M249 | Magma Price

Factory New sits at the top of this finish's price ladder as the cleanest grade available, and the finish overall is a premium M249 pick thanks to its distinctive metalwork and its age. It's available to buy on Skin.Land with instant delivery and no hidden fees.

FAQ

How is the Magma finish made?

It's a real chemical patina, not a printed pattern. Copper-plated parts are masked in a magma shape and given a red patina using salt and high heat, while the unmasked metal is darkened through oxidization. That process is why the finish has such a molten, metallic look rather than the flat paint of most skins.

Does the pattern matter on the Magma?

A little. Since it's a patina finish, the burned-in texture varies slightly by paint seed, so some copies show a crisper, better-defined magma pattern than others and collectors tend to prefer those. There's no "blue gem" jackpot seed, though — it's just a matter of a cleaner-looking patina.

Which gloves go with the Magma?

Its fiery red-and-copper palette suits a warm loadout, so red, orange, or brown gloves work best — a pair with crimson or copper tones plays off the molten patina, while dark leather wraps echo the oxidized metal. Something warm ties the whole fiery theme together.
