M249 | Magma (Minimal Wear)
The M249 | Magma (Minimal Wear) is a Mil-Spec Grade M249 finish, its copper body carrying a burned-in red patina in a magma pattern, kept close to pristine. Minimal Wear sits just below Factory New, offering nearly the same look for a bit less.
Design
Rather than paint, Magma uses a chemical patina: copper-plated sections are masked in a magma shape and burned with salt and heat into a red patina, while the exposed metal is darkened by oxidization. The community artist Algis designed it, and it ships with a fitting quote in-game: "A burning rate of fire."
M249 | Magma (Minimal Wear) Float and Wear
With float running 0.00 to 0.70, a Minimal Wear copy lands in the low band just above Factory New. The red patina keeps its glow, the magma masking stays clearly defined, and only faint edge wear shows on close inspection. For most buyers it's a near-match to the top grade at a friendlier price.
M249 | Magma Rarity
Rarity: Mil-Spec Grade, the blue tier that forms the most common class of standard weapon skins. It's an accessible finish, striking looks notwithstanding.
M249 | Magma Case and Collection
Magma comes from The Winter Offensive Collection and unboxes from the Winter Offensive Weapon Case, released in December 2013. Its Mil-Spec tier is the most common in the case at around 79.9%. Since the case left the active drop pool long ago, supply is fixed and copies mostly change hands on the market.
M249 | Magma Patterns
As a patina finish, Magma's burned-in texture varies a touch from copy to copy with the paint seed, so they aren't all identical and collectors lean toward cleaner, sharper seeds. Don't expect a rare "blue gem" tier, though — the hunt is simply for a seed whose magma pattern reads at its best.
StatTrak & Souvenir
There's a StatTrak edition of this finish that adds a confirmed-kill counter; the counter is permanent and never gets wiped through trades or sales, and the StatTrak version is a scarcer, pricier pull from the Winter Offensive Weapon Case. No Souvenir version exists, as Souvenir weapons are produced only from Major-tournament packages and this finish never featured in one.
M249 | Magma Price
Minimal Wear sits a step under Factory New on the ladder, a small saving for a look that stays close to flawless. As a finish, Magma is a premium M249 pick because of its distinctive metalwork and its age. It's available to buy on Skin.Land with instant delivery and no hidden fees.
FAQ
Is Minimal Wear worth it over Factory New?
For most buyers, yes. Minimal Wear keeps the red patina glowing and the magma masking defined, sitting just below the top grade visually while costing a little less. Go for Factory New if you want the metalwork at its most vivid; otherwise this grade is the smarter value pick.
Does the patina stay vivid at Minimal Wear?
It does. The molten red-and-copper look is the whole appeal of the skin, and at Minimal Wear it stays rich and clearly defined across the body, with only the lightest edge wear if any. You'd need a close look to tell it apart from a Factory New copy.
What does the StatTrak version add?
The StatTrak edition adds a live counter that tracks your confirmed kills with the weapon. It's a permanent count that never gets wiped when the item changes hands, and StatTrak copies are a rarer, more expensive drop from the Winter Offensive Weapon Case than the standard finish.
