M4A4 | Griffin (Well-Worn)
The M4A4 | Griffin (Well-Worn) is a Restricted rifle skin with a hand-painted griffin over a brown finish, shown here in a more battle-worn state. It's a cheaper route into the design, with wear the earthy base still partly disguises.
Design
At its core Griffin is a hand-painted illustration of a griffin — the legendary creature with an eagle's head and a lion's body — over a warm brown finish, an artistic, mythical take rather than a tactical one. It's a Valve in-house design centered on painterly detail. The finish carries a fitting in-game line: "Felix handpicked his team from operators all over the world... and while people question their personalities, they never question the results."
M4A4 | Griffin (Well-Worn) Float and Wear
At Well-Worn the finish shows clear scuffing and paint loss across the body and edges, where the brown coat thins out and the metal starts to show through. The griffin illustration still anchors the look, but there's no hiding that this is a worn grade. For players who care more about price than a spotless surface, it delivers the recognizable design for less.
M4A4 | Griffin Rarity
Rarity: Restricted, the purple tier — positioned above Mil-Spec and beneath Classified among the standard grades. It's an uncommon skin, a clear rung below the rarest Covert rifles but well above the common tiers.
M4A4 | Griffin Case and Collection
The Griffin sits in The Vanguard Collection and is unboxed from the Operation Vanguard Weapon Case, released together with Operation Vanguard on November 11 2014. As a group the Restricted tier drops about 15.98% of the time from the case (the rate is shared across the tier's skins), and with the case out of the active drop pool, supply is fixed — most copies come from the market rather than from unboxing.
M4A4 | Griffin Patterns
The Griffin carries no random pattern roll: the griffin illustration is placed the same on each copy, which means there's no paint seed or "blue gem" to seek out. Copies differ only by wear and float.
StatTrak & Souvenir
You can also find a StatTrak™ M4A4 | Griffin, which tacks on a confirmed-kill counter; it's rarer and pricier than the standard drop, and the counter is permanent, following the item through every trade or sale. There's no Souvenir variant — Souvenir weapons only come from Major-tournament packages, and the Operation Vanguard Weapon Case never featured as a Major souvenir drop.
M4A4 | Griffin Price
Well-Worn sits near the bottom of the Griffin ladder, below Field-Tested and above only Battle-Scarred — a budget way into the design for players who won't pay the mid-grade premium. It's one of the cheaper routes to a genuine Griffin in your loadout. It's available to buy on Skin.Land with instant delivery and no hidden fees.
FAQ
How worn does the Well-Worn Griffin look?
Noticeably. Expect visible scratches and paint thinning across the receiver and around the edges — more than Field-Tested but short of the heavy battering of Battle-Scarred. The brown base and the hand-painted griffin keep it recognizable, so it still reads clearly as a Griffin in-game.
Is Well-Worn worth buying over Field-Tested?
Only if price is your priority. Field-Tested looks a good deal better for a modest step up in cost, so most buyers prefer it. Well-Worn makes sense when you want the griffin design as cheaply as possible without dropping all the way down to Battle-Scarred.
Does the brown finish hide wear well?
Better than most. The warm, earthy base absorbs light scratching, so lower grades of the Griffin look less battered than a bright or pale skin would at the same float. Even at Well-Worn the damage reads as honest use rather than total ruin, which helps the artwork stay legible.
